Topic: 10 bolt swap

Will a 10 bolt 410 posi from about a 1970 chevelle fit my 1976 f/bird w/243 open or would I have to change the whole unit? I do have a ford 9in posi w/410 but this I'm sure would need much more work like ghange to leaf spring, poss narrow,and so on? which if any would be doable? Thanks!

More than likely that's an 8.2 ten bolt and won't work in your 8.5 but not to worry. Posi units with good gears are fairly common in the 77-81 F bodies. 3.23's and 3.42's in the pontiacs and 3.73's in some 4-speed Z28's. The easiest and most cost effective option is just to buy a complete rear end and swap it.
