yellow wire thingy
« on: January 08, 2012, 01:03:21 PM »
Does anyone know where this goes?  And what are the bulb colored wires for the heater control and the Fuel/volts gauge? Thanks.

Someone will correct me if I am wrong but I think the yellow wire looks like part of a glass in line fuse holder.

yep,  thats a inline fuse holder, most likely for the radio, or someone added it for another circuit.  follow it to its source, i bet its just a power lead for a radio or other audio device.

like i said in our pm, the fuel/volt gauge;s light bulb is usually a metal pronged fitting that fits into the hole on the backside of the gauge housing & the heat a/c bulb wire has a black plastic fitting that presses into the opening.

Then there should be 2 of that type of bulb fitting. 1-heater, the other to fuel.

yes but they are different.  the fuel/volt one has metal prongs that clip into the housing.

The yellow wire is not factory and has been tapped into the factory harness. You can see the blue splice connector pinched on the factory orange and black wire.

The Fuel/Volts light has a single grey wire into the bulb socket. It completes the circuit when it grounds to the gauge cluster. Hence the metal prongs on the socket.

The HVAC light has (2) wires running to it as it won't be able to obtain a ground from the plastic housing. If I recall, it plugs in and then needs to rotate a little to lock it into place.
