Title: Why do some TAs have a bird on the fuel door?
Post by: AmericanMuscle on March 13, 2006, 11:23:05 PM
I had seen pictures of some 79-81 trans ams with bird emblems on the fuel door but I never really understood why some have that and others don't. My 79 does not have the bird on the fuel door, but when I was looking over another 79 Trans Am about a week ago, that im going to buy for a parts car, I noticed that it had the bird on the fuel door. Just curious.

the door with the bird on it is correct for only 1981 model years, but many people have become fond of it and added it to the 79 and 80 cars.....but for concours correct it is wrong for the 79, could also indicate a rear end accident or maybe the tailight was previously busted out....

I have been looking forever for an emblem to go on my 81 TA. Any ideas where I can get just the emblem?

Just saw a few go thru ebay. 40-50$ if I recall. The SE's had gold birds. Regular TA was silver.
