Topic: Electric fans?????????

 Does anyone know the size I would need to get for JUST the electric fans. I want the dual? Or even some out of a newer car.. I know the newer Grand Prix came with the dal ones. If I could just get one out of a wrecked one that would be nice..But if anyone knows the right size and proper one to get or even a website that would be helpful. Thanks.

so correct me if Im wrong or maybe read it wrong. Seems like a dual 12 inch setup would work right? I DO NOT have a fan shroud now.Yes it does over heat. thats why I want dual electric. I've seen them without the fanshroud..justdont know if It would work withme. and I gues I would need to upgrade my alternator? So maybe the grandprix ones will work huh? if they are the 12 inch?

Alot of the fan setups out there have a shroud built into them.

Look into the Taurus fan, they move some MASSIVE air and have a builtin shroud. Can use relays and some temp probes to control them, or there are more involved methods.

A file or a dremel (at low speed - you want to grind it off, not melt it off) could remove any raised ford lettering on a shroud so I wouldn't let that stop you

ok so i got my electric fans finally. They are dual eletric fans with the built in fan shroud. Now what? best way to hook them up. I want them to start when they are supposed to. Like off the thermostat or something.

They didn't come with a wiring kit? Hmm.....methinks you have a little shopping to do yet

Here's what I was going to do with mine....use an aftermarket wiring kit - I believe Jegs and Summit both sell them - and use a stock temp sensor either on the intake manifold or on the cylinder head. I haven't looked into it completely yet to know if that would work but by my thinking it *should* work. And I have heard of people putting an override switch in the car so you can turn them on if the need arises.

i'll look at those paces you were saying about the wiring kit. I took everyones advise and got the fans off a taurus. So its just a pig tail and I'll have to do some cuting and shrink tubing. There are two fans and I guess one is hooked to the thermostate or on the intake manifold and the other is the overide or I was told that coud be hooked to your ingnition so when you first start the car one turns on right away and then if it heats up more the other should kick on.

Check out Summit...get a Derale controller...it comes with a sender unit and is adjustable...there is also an override "on" connection that can be wired if you have AC or just want to run an override switch like I do.
My controller works very well to run the fans - adjusted to switch on around 190 and drops it to under 180 easy, then turns off....neat!
I run both fans of the controller.....works well. Most of the time when you're moving, you don't need the fans to be running anyway.
