Title: My 1979 Trans Am (was)
Post by: lyle71 on July 22, 2007, 03:30:20 AM
(http://This car was fantastic and was great luck just owning it. First off, I don't own it anymore  :'( second, I am new so forgive me for my long story. I bought this car through a friend of a friend out in hicks ville for $1800 in around . It was a Olds 403 model with all the options.  It had some minor hail damage to it prior to the purchase but never claimed through insurance yet. So the insurance adjuster gave me $2100 cash to fix it.
Then on St. Patrick's day, I went through the rollers at a car wash and noticed an extension cord wrapped around it and beating the paint off my car So, I received $1900 for a settlement. Armed with extra cash, I went to fix the minor hail damage myself, easy since I went to school for that.
I sanded down almost all the old paint  and noticed that there was no rust anywhere on the body. I primed it and taped it up ready for paint. I still did not know what shade of red and I found it through a car magazine. The color is from a 1996 Dodge Stealth or a Mitsubishi 3000GT. Once painted,I ordered new decals and front Pontiac emblem. I placed the decals myself and did a great job.
Sadly, we had a horrible winter in 1997 in Morris, MB which prompted me to sell the car and buy a 1983 Ford Bronco. What a huge loss it was, I still kick myself over the decision to sell. The car won many drags weather in the city or on a paved highway.
I can never understand why horsepower just seems so different now, just like new speakers. I have owned many cars from many makes and nothing has come close to this power  band. It did 0-60 in 6 sec flat with no engine mods, and could spin easily at  45 mph in light rain. I never thought that it had an image of a mullet and a wife beater shirt, must be the U.S. talking. I loved this car and always will.

Something's not right. Nothing's showing.
