LOL...No it is not an SD formula. When I had it painted the original Pinehurst green I put the T/A hood on,then to my suprize I realized it looked like a SD formula. It is only a 74 Esprit. But it did come from the factory with the 400 2bbl duels.Sorta rare,I think. Gonna be putting on a 4bbl this spring. Green on green,"THE HULK!"...LMAO

That would be cool, an SD formula lol. I like the green. On the outside anyway. The inside could take some getting used to. Not bad, just a bit unusual. Cool that you kept it it's original colors.

Yes,I could send you a small sample of the material. AND if anybody can help me identify the name and code of the color green it would be a big help.On the build sheet all it says is"42-green,or ,light green".(it is a 1974 color.??) And yes ,I am selling it,I am asking$10,500.00 Canadian. Car is registered in ALBERTA CANADA.(Calgary) Am I allowed to post my e-mail address on this site for the individual who wants the color sample to contact me?

It shows a code 941 Green Vinyl was the only green, does your data tag say 941 on it?
If not it might be an aftermarket re-covered light green.
look at this http://www.78ta.com/cowl1974.php

Isee it has an aftermarket wheel with green column, and a woodgrain bezel
TA should have had a machined swirl unless they were ordered?
Do you have original steering wheelwheel?
Title: Re: Green Interior,Rare?
Post by: jmurray878 on March 01, 2013, 01:01:34 PM
That's not an aftermarket steering wheel, that's a standard Pontiac steering wheel I believe.

As I said earlier,It is not a T/A,it is a Esprit 400. Build sheet says 44x,med-green trim amd medium green interior. Will check the cowl tag later. It is a grant steering wheel. I took the 3 spoke green wheel of just cause I could. Great info...keep it comming! Cheers eh.

have any engine pics, pics of the trunk, underneath.  do you have a link to more pics.  how much is your asking price in US money.

Post by: 74bird on March 01, 2013, 07:07:07 PM
No pics of underneath. But all frame rails and pans ect are solid. Do not know what U.S. price is.($9,782.66 ???)(that is my best "price is right" guess) Only 71000 original miles on car. I bought it off the 2nd owner who put only about 5500miles in 20 years ownership. I have original bill of sale, warrenty card ect.I bought it cause it was so original.Selling cause I have a 70 Plymouth sport sattelite that is also original and it is like the first car I had when I was a kid.(Mom was right, those were the days.)Trunk still has original finish on it. I will try to download more pick as requested. Thanks for the swell comments.

The cowl code reads "594" for a color for the interior. I am stumpd,Cant find a color match.HELP!!! Need to get a can of dye to redo backs of seats and lower doorpanels. On the original bill of sale it also quotes "594" for interior color. Is it willow green?????

I like it...it's good to have something uncommon and/or different from the norm. Besides, nothing says ""the 70's" like green vinyl interior!

Nothing on build sheet or cowel tag says . This car sat on dealer showroom before it was bought, Maybe dealer pulled strings and ordered something different. I donno. Paint says 4949,Trim says 594.

That is the correct steering wheel as this car is an Esprit, Not a TA.  Dash bezel is correct as well. Never seen a green interior on an F body. Kinda cool.

Will try to take a good pic of the data plate. Kinda hard with the bad lighting I have in the garage.Keep getting a pic of the flash. The inteior code is 44-x,on my build sheet. There is a 1974 cadillac station wagon on e-bay right now that has almost the same color interior. Even the plastic on the bucket seats looks the same color as mine. I have done some research on the "1974-5 cadilac interiors"(google that) and there is a color  called medium jasper green with the code "44-e" That is the closest I have come to the color match. Sorta fun to hunt it down, gonna keep trying.Anybody have access to 1974 G.M dealer option data? Still need help. I have been around cars for over 32 years,I have had doorpanels off,the interior HAS NOT BEEN CHANGED. Plastic on the backs of seats and lower door panels has been molded in this color green. (and yes, that cadilac looks different)

Most of what I have listed is for Trans Am's. Yes, there was a green color for Firebirds and Esprits in 1974 and usually the color code was 941..... I will check some of my other books.

No,I wont, the drivers seat had a seperated seam in the back. A guy I know is stitching it back together. When I get the seat back,I will take a sample from the back of it . I already have an envelope  with your address on it. Mark

Another question I have is the steering column, I have been told they were all black until 77 or 78 with SEs and Y88 golds,
or were firebirds colored like the interior, like yours and the blue, red, yellow birds later

OK. What was the question. Right now,my column is green. But I am putting in a tilt next week and am going semi-gloss black.

Did Firebirds come with steering columns color to match the interior?
I thought only after 77-78 did the columns get color

I was told they were all black, thats a nice car you have, I would save all the original parts its probably worth more original than a TA clone
I saw some dealer brochures for sale on ebay, I should have asked the seller if it had your color listed
I like that style of seats the best of all the years and they look good in the green

I actually seen a pic of a Y84 with a red interior . Didn't think that combination existed

Yes,I have seen the "willow green" ,But according to the sem paint chips(for G.M. interior),it is a 1978 color. BUT, I did have a can made up last year. It is not the same color as mine.I have taken into acount for sunfade and tried it on a piece of material that I got from UNDER the rear seat,It was as close as I have come so far,but only about 70 % right.Today I found a 1978 Olds in the wreckers. It has the willow green,I brought a piece of the vynal and carpet home to compare. Carpet is VERY close, but the vynal is willow green, matches the spray I bought, but not my interior. Thinking I am going to go to a oldschool body supply shop I found and see what they can mix up for me. Plan # 2 is to just re-dye all my interior( hard plastic pieces) the willow green. Plan # 3...RESTOMOD,and stick a canaty yellow interior in the thing!!!!

Just bought a 74 Formula and my trim tag says 594 A51 40 40 pnt. The car has been converted to a 76 Trans Am. Should I bring it back to its former glory? Anyone knows how many cars made with this option?
Title: Re: Green Interior,Rare?
Post by: 74bird on April 19, 2013, 05:40:27 PM
Go back to formula!!! They are sweet. Your trim tag is the same 594 code as mine,I like. Is it still green. If not,you are gonna have a hard time getting the material. I would keep it whatever color it is now. Got ant pictures?
Title: Re: Green Interior,Rare?
Post by: labakken on April 19, 2013, 06:25:22 PM
Sorry, no pics. I bought the car from my neighbor as a "basket case". He dismantled the car 6-7 years ago, and put everything in boxes.
Some previous owner had an idea of converting the car to a 76 TA, which also included installing a T-top roof from a 76.
As long as it´s not original anymore, I´m thinking of converting it to a 77, mostly because of the large rear window

Another question I have is the steering column, I have been told they were all black until 77 or 78 with SEs and Y88 golds

It's an Esprit, they were colour-coded throughout the years while others were black only until the Y88 and onto '79 models.

I have a 1974 Pontiac Interior trims and Exterior Colors brochure here, not that it goes into too much detail. It lists the Pinemist Green paint (N) being available with Green Morokide Vinyl (941) with the custom seat trim option. No other green interior colour is listed for Firebirds, although many are listed for other models. The 941 green code was also a 1974 only option.

OK,now I am totally confused. The picture you posted looks just like mine. If that is the "941 code" then why is mine a "594" code on the data plate AND on the build sheet? What do you guys think? I have been to a GM dealer in Calgary and the parts book from 1974 lists 2 codes,"941" and "594".
Title: Re: Green Interior,Rare?
Post by: 74bird on April 20, 2013, 07:28:19 PM
I have a question. Went to the GM dealer today, asked to look through the old 1974 firiebird master parts book. Way cool reading for parts numbers and everything. But the trim code, there is NO 941 green for 1974. Only 594. I have a picture of this page on my phone that I would like to post, but I cant figure out how to get it to my computer. If someone would like to see it(in the meantime) e-mail me your # and I can text you this page with attachment(dont forget area code). I dont understand why the master parts book from gm does not have 941 green, just 594 green, when everyone else has seen the 941 on data plates  and not the 594. Maybe this number swithed in early in the year? My car was built at the Norwood plant. One of lifes little mysteries. Anyway, from now on, If anyone asks,...my interior color is "just green"
