if i won the lottery and had $110,000 to spare i think i could sink that into a t/a with just the parts. but to have someone put it together would add more cost. i guess what i am saying is $110,000 doesnt go as far as it used to....lol.

all you can see is completed listings run through ebay, if they sold or not and for how much.

real world numbers for 77se's sold on ebay recently

34,900 fully restored 4 speed w72
38k no sale 4 speed fully restored low miles
24,900 no sale auto fully restored
16K sale nice se clone auto (X2)
rougher y82 phs project sold for 9k

plus our auto for 26k and 4 speed for 30k.

extremely low mile originals might go for big bucks but no way trans am flordia is getting way more than everyone else for these cars, they are the ones that raised the prices to these levels does not mean they are getting these prices unless people are foolish.

Well, that particular car had 2200 original miles. I have seen the car many times in person and it is immaculate.  THAT and the condition=rarity is what people are paying for. If you are a big time collector, this is the car you want, I guess.

Not sure of final price but $110K for any TA is absurd.

aaagh, don't say that, it makes all our cars worth more
I could imagine that price for some, 69 TA maybe but not a 77, no matter the condition and miles. Of course I dont have $110K to spend either. Value is not only in the eyes of the beholder but also the funds in the bank account I guess.

if you want a $110,000 transam...that is easy...just insert a $80,000 engine with 3000hp......

I have a question about this.
What, apart from it's condition, level of restoration and/or milage, determines a cars value?
Is it:
Production numbers
Number of options
Specific options
Size of seller's mouth/ego
Size of buyers wallet/interest
Actual sales
Modifications/no modifications
Which market (US/International)
?

imo you hit the biggest reasons in your opening sentence.  super low mileage, original excellent condition or frame off factory restored condition, rarity, in demand/popular, then options would be for me what determines value.

It's like with anything.

1.Popularity of Car
2. Rarity of finding one
3. Class of people interested in it (Poor folk vs well off folk)
4. Average of sales local or international

I can find first gen Camaros all over the place, but a 77 SE Y82, not so easy to find.

So to update where we are at

1977 SE Y82 Auto matching numbers

Frame Off Nuts and Bolts restoration         $50k average
amateur restoration/Low Mileage Original  $35k Average
Top quality Driver                                    $25k Average
10 footer Driver                                       $19K Average
Driver with some bubbles                         $14K Average
Non Running Needs Full Restoration          $7K Average

Add money if it's a 4spd Amount depends on condition of car
Add money for W72 non 4spd Amount depends on condition of car
A/C delete, Low optioned, high optioned = Value in the beholder
403 Deduct. I find they just don't sell for as much. closer to a non SE value
As of now this is how I see it.

I thank everyone for their contributions

Hi Gent's,
I was at Barrette-Jackson last week and a 77 went to 23K plus auction costs.  The car was a 4 or 5 in my mind, and auto as well.

So you are saying 4 or 5 out of 10?
