W72-L78 RPO Question

Is this info. located on the engine itself, or if it does not say W72 on the cowl tag we assume it is L78?

This is pertaining to a 1977 Trans am

W72 is located on the build sheet, not the trim tag.   What is the engine code (stamped on teh block just below the passenger side head)?  Y6/WA/YG/XA ?  Those are 1977 400 engine block codes   XA was the 180 hp 7.6:1.  The others are 200 hp 8.0:1
