Hi,

I am in Jacksonville, Florida. My father bought me my first TA when I turned 16. It was a brand new Anniversary with no t-tops. Loved it and had it until I got married in 1981. One year later I got a 1977 SE. I have owned just about every make of car including Ferrari's. Fast forward to 2001 - my then 16 year old son saw some old pictures of me and the numerous TA's and started laughing at the 70's long hair and the car. I rented Smokey and the Bandit for him to watch, he fell in love. He watched every night for 2 years. When he turned 18 he begged for me to get another one. After looking what was available at the time and remembering how they used to be, I decided to get the most optioned SE I could find, and restore it. I understood at the time it would be cheaper to buy one already restored, but I wanted to make sure EVERYTHING was redone right. It has been 20 years since I last owned a TA, but I have fallen in love again. I have bought so many parts and spent so much effort my wife calls it my obsession and mistress. Actually, she tihinks a mistress would be cheaper and I would spend less time with her. I presently own a couple of neat other cars. My porsche is a weekend toy. It is unique in that it a RS cabriolet. Porsche doesn't even acknowledge they make them but I have documention from Porsche that 6 were made and shipped stateside. My 1969 Cutlass convertible is also being restored but it is the red headed step cahild to the 77 SE.

Ha!  I hear you on the dedication to the hobby -- my wife says I don't have hobbies, I have obsessions -- and in our family that's a pretty serious assertion... ::) :D ;)

Cheaper, yes but the money you spend on the mistress is gone forever. The money you spend on your TA will be there for as long as you own the car. If you sell, hopefully you'll get at least most of your money back. A better return on your investment. And NO opinions.... Don't start throwing things Jeri....

No selliing this bird. Since I had one as a teenager, now my son will have this one and he says we will one day give it to his son. They don't make cars like this anymore. Who knows how much they will be worth in the future. If they go up much more it would be very hard to replace.
