Distributor coils
« on: July 31, 2007, 10:40:43 PM »
Might be a stupid question, but on my 396 BBC, the HEI has a red and a yellow wire for the coil.  Will the cap, coil, module, and rotor work on my Poncho 400 distributor?  It has all Accell parts in it and I would like to use them on the T/A while I rebuild the 396.

the coil for a pontiac has a red wire and a white wire  the pickup coil is tricky the pontiac and chevy pickup coils look the same but they are not the magnets have reversed polarity from each other so if you have a chevy pickup coil and a pontiac pickup coil and you put them together they will stick to each other.  if you put two chevy or two pontiac pickup coils together they will repell each other.   So the caps are the same the rotors are the same the modules are the same but the big coil and the pickup coil are not interchangeable  this is due to the revers rotation of the pontiac distributer from a chevrolet.
