2000 Formula - New dailly driver
« on: January 17, 2011, 09:58:56 PM »
I have enjoyed owning my 78ta so much i was wanting a ta i could drive daily.  i narrowed my search to a 98-2002 ta/formula.  Saturday night my brother(dewcrazzy) and i were looking at local craigslist and found a 2000 formula that listed that day.  We looked at it on sunday and i bought it 30 minutes later for 6K.  i felt guilty asking the guy for a lower price but i tried and got 1k off list price, which got me a set of tires today.  It has 84K miles on it and is in stock condition, no mods at all,  and in very nice shape.  I never gave these cars the time of day but the LS1 is very strong and responsive and the handling is amazing, cabin is very comfortable and well laid out, and the stereo is like listing to a concert.  the kicker is 25-28mpg on the hwy. and around 18-20 city, they really are an incredible machine.

the color is mystic teal and it changes color in different light and angles.  2000 Formula 1 of 1302 produced.

rainy and snowy here in cincy but here are some pics, car is somewhat dirty

plate is off my other car, did not buy it at a honda dealer, but off a 26 year old kid who had it for 6 years, could not imagine owning a car like this at 19.

Very nice!  I had the same car in black.  Should have never sold it.  Enjoy it!  Thanks for sharing.

The LSX engines are awesome motors...efficient, powerful and lots of potential. Car looks good especially considered the guy bought it when he was 19! A good deal for $6k and not modded.

he was not your typical younger guy, he said he never drove it hard or raced it and he is a mechanic by trade, it drives as such.  i plan to just perform routine maint. on the car but who knows, i may be interested in a meatier exhaust.

just got back from my mechanic wed. eve and it all checks out.  we replaced rear brake pads and checked all fluids and took it for a drive, all is good.

stopped by our favorite muffler shop before going to mechanic and had a flowmaster muffler put on and it has a nice rumble to it now.

Cool car!!  ;D

I've got 2 LS1 Formulas! Bought my first one when I was 17, (Red 99 Formula) and just bought an 01 Formula 6 months ago. I'm 20 now.

They look so much better with Ram Air hoods too btw!

^picture of my 99 Formula (headers, gears converter its gone 12.28 @ 111)
It also gets 26-27 mpg driving 80 mph on the highway with 3.42 gears!

i have seen your formulas in another post and really liked them, i was surprised how few formulas were produced with the ls1, it is a wicked set up even in stock form.  i really wanted the formula and was glad to find one, ws6 ones are really rare, but much more expensive.  i really like mine so far.

rough trade in on nada is 6K so that appears to be a great price, but what condition is it really in.  that is just like mine minus leather and they only made 1302 formulas.  it you are interested test drive the crap out of it, i did that with a few and passed because they were ragged out and rode hard.  looks great in pics though even if the tweeter is missing on the passenger side door.

It looks clean. But that just takes a vacuum. I'd take it for a spin if I was seriously considering the purchase. Good looking cars though.
