1981 Trans Am with Cadillac 500 Cui engine
« on: March 16, 2008, 12:51:27 PM »
Hi, this is our car. It was a 301 but now there is a caddy 500 under the hood. The car has lost its Shaker due to the engineswap and the higher Edelbrock performer intake. This is _not_ an original car, its custom made for us.  ;D

Now lets have a look at the pictures, will add more pictures later.

The alu-mesh in the grille is a temp solution, looking for new grilles.

I agree on both counts! Beautiful! Is that a drag racing snorkel cut down for the hood scoop? I like that as well.

As requested, engine pictures. Work in progress here.

Will redo all the cables soon and repaint the valvecovers to match the car. She runs like a dream, but the Holley might need a little finetuning.

Oh sweet!!! Wait til I show mu step son. He's been wanting to build something with a 500. He'll be green. lmao

Have you had a chance to get any numbers like hp, torque ot times?

Did you look into a drop base air cleaner like Larry Navaro's WFO setup to be able to use the shaker?

Could have worked, we kinda liked the ideá with the scoop though. Might add a vacuumcontrolled flap that keeps leafs and squirrels out.  ;)

No numbers just yet, but it sure as hell beats the 301  ;D

The rear.

We have put T/A decals on it since the pic was taken, the trunk needs a little adjusting. Please dont comment the STUPID indicators, this is a stupid Swedish rule.. It has to be orange light on the indicators. Possibly we will add amber LED´s instead.

We = Me and My Wife, she´s a gear head aswell.   8)

That stinks on the signals. I like the led idea. ;)
And that's cool that you'r wife is into cars too. My girl isn't hardly interested in them except to watch NASCAR is about all.

Nice looking engine!
There are so many caddy 500 engines out here.
I have always thought about that.
Did you do the work?

Do it! Its a sweet upgrade , we bought it as an unfinished project. The car left the USA looking like this.

We are curently working on the interior.

Welcome to 78ta Lenne, thanks for the pics, that's one sweet ride.  If you can't have a shaker, i think that scoop still does the car justice.  It really does look nice and doesn't detract from the original look too much.  I really like it!

Cool!
Are you a member of the Sweden Trans Am Club?
I use to post over there, but I always had to wait for an "English" translation. ;)
Unless I posted first. ;D
Is Uffe still there?
He use to own a 1989 20th Anniversary Turbo Trans Am, and now, I believe, a Trans Am race car!
I also know Jan Larsson, but he lives in England.
He also owns a 1989 20th Anniversary Turbo Trans Am.
I think he still posts over there.
