1976 Trans Am underbody color?
« on: October 16, 2019, 09:14:07 AM »
Hey everyone, thank you for letting me join. We are restoring a 1976 Trans Am in Starlight black. The owner wants to keep it as factory as possible.
I am wondering if anyone has a good paint code that they used for the "Red Oxide" color on the bottom of the car and the inside of the floor pan?
Thanks Nick

These were mixed up at the factory and may have had some variation over different batches. Photos and lighting make them hard to compare. PPG DP74LF is close, just a touch more blue than typical orange primer.

I know they were a little different depending on where the car was built. I heard once PPG changed their formula to the LF version, it wasn't as good
of a match. Thank you for your response.
