They differ only in the outer rim of the drum...one has 1/4 inch gap,the other 1/2 inch.
This prevents the drum from wholly seating on the axle.
They don't have large cooling fins as my Buick though.
The part numbers are different for brake parts..but some are identical.
Parts aren't that expensive...I'll have fun figuring this out. ::)

Having a hard time finding a reasonable deal on a posi rear for my 71 Le mans.
Found a 66 Chevelle rear end, reasonably priced, but owner states the 66 is 1 inch shorter.
Does everything else line up correctly?
Any other easy options for a posi?
Anyone with chassis experience please reply.
Thanks.

I have a set of closed chamber heads for a 396. They came off the 427 in the 69 Vette I had.  I still have a brand new oil pump as well.  Lemme know if your interested. Maybe we could meet in Toledo.

As for your rear end,I put in a rear end from a 1969 grand prix ,back in the day. It was a bolt in,everything lined up. So start looking at GP,s also. The track was the same.

Got a correct rear end installed and scored a whole garage full of parts for $250 tonight.
I didn't realize 68,69,and 70 are all different...check out 68/69 front end...

What a great score...included parts,  core support, hood, driver door,10 bolt rear end, dash, hood latch and spring, fenders, inner fenders, quarter glass, door sill plates.
window cranks, heater box/blower,inside/outside door handles, interior trim, package tray, steering box,and boxes of other assorted parts and hardware...he claims they are 70...but I believe they were made in 70 as a 71 model.
couldn't fit everything in my Buick trunk..going back tonight with a truck for the rest of the items...A body door looks funny sitting in the full size Buick trunk...should have taken photos.
Guy is moving and doesn't want to haul everything in the move...sold his project years ago...was angry that folks called but never arrived to buy the parts...I was the first guy to faithfully show up.
