Cell Phone
« on: September 09, 2008, 12:24:48 PM »
So.. my cell phone is messed up. The port where you plug in the charger finally broke so the phone won't charge.
Apparently its some defect with the phone and they all break eventually. its the lg env by the way.
Annyways.. of course my warranty and whatever juuust expired on it and I don't really wanna pay the $50 for a new phone since my upgrade is right around the corner. I've also got the charge thing covered cause my girlfriend has the same phone, I just pop my battery in her phone to charge it.

You know how you can bring in any old phone though and use it until youre upgrade etc..
I'm not sure if you can, but hahaha.. I really want to take one of these up there and activate it

I think it'd be hilarious to use for a month or so.

Go see Chad (Alltel) and tell him you have 5 freinds (your circle) who want to activate their really old phones also.  All kidding aside the one time I tried to activate a phone that was more then 2 years old, the youngsters at the Verizon store told me to go to the Smithsonian.

If it's that old, they couldn't activate it if they wanted to do so.  The old phones were analog, whereas the new ones are digital.  They're just incompatible with the frequencies and voice encoding processes used today.  The old analog frequencies have been reassigned to other uses.

Sorry 'bout that!  Actually, that's why OnStar dropped me last January -- the unit in my 02 Avalanche was analog only and they didn't have any digital upgrades available, so they sent me a nice letter politely telling me they wouldn't take my money anymore. :(
