I personally don't agree with that but it's a matter of opinion and as it's your car, you should do what you want.

I could see one possible reason that they wouldn't have used red is that most people are brought up to associate red with "warning", "stop","danger", etc.

btw...have you posted any pictures of your car yet? It would certainly help with some of the questions you have asked.

The light bar is made up of a solid peice.  You would have to get a new light bar, cut out the amber lenses using a drill and a dremmel and then fabricate new colored lenses and glue them in place.  I would use your light bar you have now as practice (since it is broken anyways).

Well, my car was kinda an SE clone.  It had the normal gold decal set on it and then the previous owner put the SE stripes on it.  So, since my car was not an Original Special Edition car, but I liked the SE scheme (with the outlining stripes) I decided to go with silver instead of gold.  Everything else on the car was black and silver on the inside so I carried the same scheme on the outside and made something different.  A perfect example of the old saying of "it is YOUR car, do with it what you want".  I wanted something different, so I made it something different.  My car is also one of over 33,000 made for that year so it is also not a rare car or something special.  The only thing that makes it special is that IT IS MINE !
