how many from van nuys??

hi there.....recently bought a 78 formula/4 speed....i have the build sheet and some of the codes are...L78,M21,W50,W66,W72.....it came from the van nuys plant....i'm trying to find out how many were made in total and of those how many were made at the cali plant......any info would be great..thx

The Norwood cars had a hand written number on the build sheet, that was the number it rolled off the line, if I understand the explanition of the hand written number correct. That was camaros and firebirds, again if I understand things correct. Van Nuy's cars didnt have the numbers on the sheets.
I dont know if there is/was an accounting for how many cars came from which plant.

Pontiac produced 810 1978 Formulas with W72 Performance Package and 4-soeed manual transmission. Unfortunately for 1978 no figures based on per plant production have been found.

Now for 1979, there were 367 W72 Formulas produced, all 4-speed manuals. Of the 367 cars, 152 were produced at Norwood OH while 215 were produced at Van Nuys CA.
