i just recieved a 79 trans am. now the problems.

1. it is completly in pieces. the yoke for the engine was removed.
2. the inner and outer fenders are removed.
3. hood, front clip, front bumper, removed.
4. everything from firewall to the front is in pieces removed.
5. interior is gone. ( i think i have all pieces they are just not attached)
6. no engine or transmission.
7. i have no nreakdown manual

now i got this gave to me. someone started to restore it so heres what they have done.

1. mostly primered. yoke was painted. interior stripped.
now i know i have alot of work ahead but this car does have potential. it has all original wheels, seats are dirty but good shape, original interior, no rust, tilt steering. i ran vin it said car was built in van nuys cali. 403 olds with 4 bbl carb, was 79 trans am model. any help would be great. i will try to post pictures when i get them. my goal is to put it all back together with either a 403 olds or 301 pontiac motor, tan interior, and black with gold decals and pinstripping on the outside. please help!

well if all the parts are mostely primered... start to assemble it and get everything to fit as far as the body... interior i wouldnt worry about that until the car is painted and ready to be driven... but find out what parts you may need.

no it was shear fate! my best friend for twenty years always knew i wanted a 79 trans am. putting family first i never have had the money to get one. my friend called me on my birthday, not even knowing it was, and told me he found a 79 trans am for free and asked if i wanted it. he told me it was in pieces but everything was there. so thats how i got it. i found out later also the previous owner paid him to take it.

also can anyone recomend a good assembly manual? i mean its in pieces and i need step by step with lots of pictures!

I have a 79 tenth anniversary parts car that has been pretty much stripped and I have most of the parts. If get stuck for anything small or odd, email me, I might be able to help.
