Title: 76 TA
Post by: 19Mike76 on June 28, 2019, 09:44:40 PM
Hi All, new to this, just purchased a 1976 TA from an uncle who has had it since 1978, still has original paint but has its fair share of door dings and other dings I’m not sure how they happened. Original paint, but could buff out the fade and other minor scuffs but has some fine cracking from paint dry up. Basically wondering if I’m better off leaving original paint or doing a full repaint? It’s a 455 4 speed with 53,000 original miles. Any reply would be helpful, thanks.

If the rest of the car is highly original and will clean up you may wish to keep it that way. Of course, no point having original this and that if also in poor condition. Some door dings may come out but they are not like new cars that simply pop out without damage, they usually require paintwork, and if you need paintwork, there's not much point claiming the rest is original if faded. It all depends how bad it is. Maybe get it detailed first and see how it comes up.
