What to clean epoxy primer from spray gun with?
« on: November 07, 2009, 09:47:34 AM »
I got this primner from Eastwood and wanted to use it today but I dont know what to clean the gun with when I am done?  Istructions say gun cleaner or appropriate solvent.  Can any one advise me what to use?  I have Laquer thinner and MEK in the garage would they work?

Either of those solvents should work fine provided the primer you purchased. Personally I would use the Laquer thinner as MEK is fairly nasty stuff to breath...... :P

+2 on the laquer thinner. FWIW: the local paint shop advised me to use that with the epoxy primer I bought.

When you're finished spraying the thinner...run some water through the gun afterwards to clear out the thinner and stop the reaction with the seals in the gun. Your gun will thank you for it later.
