WOW!  Thanks for the W72 info!  I just sold my 77 Y6 block.  I had no idea there were so few Y6's produced

Dear John:
I have a question for you. since they quit making the blocks in 1977 how do you know  what date code would be correct for The Heads on your W72 car made in 1978 and 1979...I have a 1978 wc block car but the heads are missing and I don't know date code to look for
Also my 79 w72 Pwh  car is missing the original 6X-4 heads and I need to know what date code range to be looking for ..

Thank you for all the interesting information  Chuck

On the 1978 car it depends on the production date of the car.

For the 1979 car, I have seen/recorded Feb thru Apr 1978 date codes for cylinder heads.

Hope this helps

John,

If I remember during a conversation we had a few years ago your car is optioned the same as mine.  AC w/o rear window defogger.  Could I bother you for the part number on your alternator?  I can't find any information on the correct number and a few years ago like an idiot I replaced my original alternator.

Thanks,

John, I just read your entire article and I have to say it was a great read. Thanks for taking the time to do all that research and make that information available to us all. I am just starting my restorations on two 78 ta's and must say I just learned more about my cars in the past hour then I could have in a year at swap meets and shows. Thanks again from an interested new guy.
