WTF is wrong with my headlights???
« on: September 16, 2008, 07:04:21 PM »
i have a 2001 trans am and for some reason when i use my key pad to lock or unlock the doors (or arm or dis arm the alarm) the headlights flip up then down and make a loud buzzing noise for about 10 seconds.  it is the factory alarm in the car and i have never touched it, this problem just started recently.  Is it an indication that the motors for the headlights are going bad or what?  i thought maybe it was faulty wireing but why would it just start for no reason when it was working fine and i havnt touched any wires?  if any one has any info on this it would be very helpfull thank you.

We're mostly a 2nd gen site - 1970-1981 - although some members have trans ams from other years.

Just out of curiousity...what changed on your car recently? Any addons? Stereos? Alarms? etc? Is the battery original to the car? Any work done recently? If so, by whom? What work?

I know when the battery went on my '95 Pathfinder the alarm would sound when I turned the ignition key and it would not start. Horn sounded though...

Buy a service manual.  I think you can get them on ebay for about $100.  I bought one (actually three volumes) for my 1999 Trans Am.

Check the car battery, I heard from Pat Goss Automotive week t.v. show that a car battery can cause alot of problems with newer cars. he had a car that was running bad and the owner of the car took the car to several different machanic noone could find the problem. Pat repalced the battery the car ran fine, reinstalled old battery car run like crap. installed new battery again car ran well.
