Year Ones billet Honeycombs on 78-81 and what size ?
« on: September 30, 2009, 03:41:31 AM »
I was looking at Year Ones wheel selection at the new 17-20 inch billet snowflake and honeycomb wheels and wondered if anyone had purchased and installed the honeycomb style on a 1978-81 model and wondered how they looked? Also even in the billett snowflake style how big is to big before you get that modern "rubber band" style look?  I want the car to somewhat retain the decade correct appearance of  "mines an 81" but i just like those new billet styles. Im not wanting that Donk,Box or bubble look if you know what i mean ::),hope that all made sence ?? Are the 18x9's to big and is the honeycomb style just not right for the 78-81's ??

I know Brett (hitman) has a set but I can't seem to locate his post. I'm sure Jeff will be around with the right topic but for now you can check out this one...

I wouldn't go above 17" on these cars. Anything beyond that and you're right where you don't want to be - matchbox / hotwheels territory.

I personally really like the honeycombs. I think they would look great on the car. I think 18's in the back and 17's in the front would look nice without losing all your tread. There was a post here a while ago and it had a candy red trans am with the 18's I think and it looked really sharp. snowflakes or honeycombs would look good either way. Honeycombs looked fine on the early models and that body styling wasnt that different then the later models.  Lots of money to spend though.
