02 Firebird a classic?
« on: January 04, 2010, 05:47:58 PM »
Do u think it will become a collector's car or a classic in 7-10 more years? Would it be in bad taste to make this bird more like a tuner car? I have several more years of service left, i dont have

much else to daydream about. =) So how many 02 FB V6 automatic, grey cloth interior, Navy Blue Metallic exterior did they make? I've always heard you can tuned (mod?) a v6 to be faster than a v8 , but

I mean I think they all have the potential to be collector cars, but I don't think there's anything wrong with messing with it to your tastes. When you say tuner, are we talking big wings and body kits or are we talking muscle engine mods, tint, bigger rims etc? Tuner to me is fast and the furious knuckleheads. With these cars, it's basically taboo.

As far as it being a classic, I think the 02 is a better classic candidate than the third gen t/a's. To me at least. The last year is definitely going to be sought after when it's all said and done I think.

As far as the engine, I mean, if you get real excited, you could swap in an LS1 maybe or any higher powered V8. Most guys will steer you away from Chevy, but I don't see anything wrong with it. For resale value, anything you do will affect the amount of money you will get out of it. However with that being said, I would keep the rims you may swap out for new ones in case, keep any parts you take off and store them, and document everything that's done and keep receipts. Common sense. Stuff like suspension I can't see as being a negative as far as upgrading, but it's not a bad idea, to keep all the old stuff just in case..

this is what i spendmy day thinking about. changing the interior cloth into a blue suade leather, and beefing up the engine to a v8, maybe even to one of those that sits  ontop the hood? lol

a really nice custom paint job, but i dont wanna be the douche who ruins a classic car. guess i'll buy another to play with. I'll customize one all to hell and pay someone to restore the other.

If you paid them for the job, then that's definitely NOT right. No paint should have bubbles in it. There's nothing wrong with tweaking those cars, just make sure you save all the original stuff and store it away and keep it all clean. I always like leather/vinyl better than cloth, but it does get hot. Tint that thing up and cool it down. Maybe look into new rims/tires, upgrade the suspension etc etc. If you have that much money to mess with I bet you could really get a nice motor for that one/do the suspension and maybe get yourself a 2nd gen t/a project for the hell of it. I do like the navy blue, those are slick cars for sure.

Or, if that's going to be a daily driver, if you're interested in 2nd gen t/a's I would get one of those to play with and tweak maybe for a pro-touring car. Those engine swaps are way easier than messing with newer cars for sure. With the newer ones you have to deal with computers and all that. But I like the way yours looks. Nice color and I bet it's fun as it is. But ultimately it's up to you.
