May 2010 Spotlight - 1977 Special Edition Trans Am of Rick Stevens

This month's Spotlight is one that has been overdue here on the Forum. I know you are asking yourself why am I spotlighting a "Y82" of someone named "Y88"Rick.... I'll get to that in a minute. I chose Rick as the Spotlight of the Month of May due to his dedication and enthusiasm in the Trans Am Community. Y88Rick has been a member of this Forum for almost two years now and in that period of time, I don't think I could name all of the cars that he has had. A 1978 Y88 Special Edition, a 1971 Trans Am, a 1996 Firebird Convertible, and I don't know what else..... but I am sure Rick could fill you in. Over the last few years, cars in his collection has come and gone like the Y88 Special Edition Trans Am which I believe is now back in his possession. So I guess we might see Rick back up here with another car soon. But the car I chose to Spotlight this month is one of his current projects which is a 1977 Y82 Special Edition Trans Am.
Rick has been working on this car for a little while now bringing it back to it's former glory. If you have been watching on the Forum, you have seen quite a bit of what he has done to this car during the restoration process. He has taken great care in making sure that this car is done and done right. Everything from the rims and tires to the paint and decals, to the engine compartment and now finishing up on the interior. He has countless hours doing what should be done to all of these cars. But I am still trying to figure out where he spends more of his time.... finishing up his car, or posting here on the Forum. Take a look at some of the progress along the way.....
And of course has to make sure the paint has that mirror shine...
Taking great care to put all the decals in the right place....
Making sure he also takes care of the details in the engine.....
And even though he is not quite done with the interior, you can see he is taking the time to finish that right as well.
As you can see from the photos above, Rick is taking great care of this 1977 Special Edition to make sure it is right. And of course, he keeps a tight guard on it as well.
Like I had mentioned earlier, Y88Rick has had quite a few cars and projects over the years that he has been on this Forum and he has always been keeping us up to date on what is going on with his collection of Birds. So I know this spotlight is overdue... but I was never quite sure of what car he had or what was coming next. I know his Y88 is back and I am sure we will be seeing more of it here on the Forum. There is always room in his Garage for more... if the Wife allows it of course.
But, as always, it is not just about the car. Rick has always been here on the Forum to lend a helping hand to whoever had questions. Pointing them in the right direction and giving out some good advice. Rick is also always active even if he is not talking about Trans Ams. So, it is a pleasure to have you around on the Forum Rick and we look forward to an upcoming spotlight of your Y88 Special Edition.
