Not the greatest pic, but showing some brown-bird love...my new 77.  And sorry to those of you who are tired of seeing this pic the last few days.  I promise to get some new ones soon.   ;)

Well.... my 78 Chesterfield Brown TA has a long long way to go......

But here are some pix.....

I thought 77 and 78 were the same brown, but some cars look much darker than others... like the diference between TAhuntress (sweet car!) and Squirrel's car (sweet car too!)... what's the deal?  Just the pic - or is there really a difference?  What is the name of the darker brown if there is a difference?

Lastly - My hood bird decal is supposedly original but is the newer style like 79's have - did they start that style in late 78?

Seems like 77 Brentwood Brown is a more dark brown, while Chesterfield from 78 is lighter and more flat looking. 79 Heritage is a really dark, rich golden brown.

They actually are different colors. I checked the paint codes. The GM code used on the cowl tags are the same, but the codes used to show what colors used to mix it are different between the three

Heritage is my favorite color bird... That and the old green on the early 70's cars.

Thanks!   :)  I think I'm gonna go with the rallys for a while...maybe always.  I like them on this car.  My 77 Camaro...not so much.  I believe those are 14's though.   I had to get  Cragar SS on the Camaro quick.  I'm hanging on to the stock wheels of course.  They also have tires on them, so...another pile of wheels and tires is not what I want right now.  I don't particularly like the tires on the TA, but they were just put on by the previous owner to run the car through Mecum and they only have 300 miles.  SO I'll keep em until they need to be replaced or a cash windfall comes my way.

I saw this on the restoration projects section of the forum a while back. How's it going now?

So that's the deal.  I saw earlier today that the GM code was identical for the three and wondered.   ???  Didn't pay attention to the other info.  I wonder why they didn't just change the GM code since they ARE different colors and not simply name changes.

I agree...the gold really sets off the brown well.

I'm on the same page with you.  I tend to lean towards the "earthier" colors.  My 77 Camaro is Light Buckskin (tan) and I just love it.  Not a very common color.  Someone on this thread posted a pic of their Z that is the same color.  I think it's a "love it" or "hate it" color though for sure.

Yeah...the Chesterfield seems to have warmer, almost copper undertones.  I'm not as familiar with the Heritage...will look.  Anyway....BROWN ROCKS!  Mine will get a repaint some day down the road and will most definitely remain Brentwood Brown.   :)
