1976 and Older Bumper Fix ( bolt studs )
« on: January 25, 2012, 10:45:49 AM »
are the studs broken?   if so fix them.   go to the store and pick up a new stud that looks like this.
0.75 with the nut and washer , each.

use a small cut off grinder to cut the rest of the stud off.  drill a 1/8" hole in the center of the stud.  then drill the hole 2 sizes smaller then the new stud. only drill into the metal bracket.  the 1/8" hole you put into the rubber is enough. then the screw end of the stud will cut it's own threads in the rubber.     loctite the screw end and install. lock 2 nuts on the bolt side so you can turn it in with a socket.

then it unlock the 2 nuts with 2 wrenches and your done.
