That's truly outstanding!  One question -- why no engine size callouts on the shaker? ??? ???

Very nice survivor!!  :) You never see cars like that anymore.

Rick, I too noticed that the shaker was "decal free". It should have the 6.6 Liter decal since it has the L78 400. You would think it would have the shaker call out since it has the decals and hoodbird.  You can't see the back of the shaker good enough to tell if it is opened up or not, could be a shadow. I thought maybe it has a "back up" opened shaker on it, but like I said, it's hard to see.

I guess I don't know. I thought only the 6.6 T/A edition or the WS6 edition for 1978 had it, but maybe I'm wrong. I'll have to see if I can figure it out.

Since I've been reading everything T/A I can get my hands on before I buy, I did read somewhere that for a period of time '78's came without decals on the shaker.

And you think the engine compartment is weak good grief!!! It is awsome  don't clean it up you might damage the "Patina"  the only thing that needs attention is those cheap cogged autozone fan belts they shure don't belong on that NEW TRANS AM that you own...WOW that car is amazing it needs to be on the show room of a pontiac Dealership somewhere...

I'd love to take credit, but no work at all it is 100% original. I just cleaned it.

My first reaction when I saw the odometer was "BS"....then I saw the pictures of the interior.  That car hasn't really been driven at all.  It's so obvious from those shots.  That's a beautiful car.  And, it looks like it came out of a time capsule.  Beautiful!!!

Yes, in 1978, if you had the W72 Pontiac 400 the shaker had the "T/A 6.6" on the shaker.  If you had the L78 Pontiac 400, or the Olds 403, then you got NO decals on the shaker.  1978 was a strange year.  Also in 1978 there was no "Trans Am" decal on the front nose bumper.  Another thing in 1978, the tail lights had no silver ring on them.  It was black instead of silver.

Truely an incredible car.

Only a few things I noticed, whats with the gas pedal? Looks nothing like anything I've seen in a 2nd gen before. And please, clean that tar stuff off the rear passenger side panel, even though it probably already stained the plastic :( Atleast it appears it was stored in a very warm place :P

My '78 tail lights have the silver ring and although the car is new to me, I think they are original since the car has never been in an accident. The car ia an early '78 so mayve that's why.
