A 78 trans am manual for sale around my house
« on: August 14, 2007, 11:19:21 PM »
So the reason why i went looking for T/A was because a car dealer was selling one near my house. I saw it about 3 weeks ago and i thought it was great until i started to look around on the net at others. Now can anyone tell me why the bottom of the car is GREY and does not match the rest of the cars color. Second did all trans ams in 78 come with louvers or was that extra?

The rear window louvers were a popular gen 2 F-body addon back in the day.  Pontiac did not offer them as a factory option, although I guess it's possible some dealerships might have offered them as an addon (like rustproofing, different floor mats, and the like). ;)

Looks to me like they painted the flares to match the grey in the bird decal, to offset them from the rest of the car.  Even the small ribbon between the body and the flare is grey.

Are the "white" lines white or grey?  I can't tell in the pic, they looked gret in the first pics.  Anywho, it was just a guess on my part.

Looks likre the replacments I got, grey primer.
Looks like the edging was not pinted either.
The owner proballt could not find spray paint to match.

I love the fiberglass repos from ames.  I found they actualy requier less finishing/fitting than the original GM replacments.

Those aren't correct front ones for that car. Those are for a '79 and later. Notice how they only come up to the midline? 1978 come up past the midline. They're also flatter, less sculpted.

It doesn't look bad. It has WS6 rims. How much are they asking? What are the details? If that's the only thing that's wrong with the car it might not be a bad buy.
