Was there something special about it, or just  a carb spacer to suit Quadrajet?

To cool down fuel before it gets to carburator. Help stop prevent car from not starting when hot. Nothing special about spacer but looking for part # to order. A big thanks for answering. You are always there Aus78Formula

Haha I didn't reply with anything of use, more just a bump. The spacer isn't anything fancy other than being quadrajet spacing and selecting a height that still works. Many are aluminium, some are milled timber or phenolic cnc designed to limit heat transfer to carb bowl. Any spacer will usually increase torque but unlikely to notice in that small amount. Be aware you may need longer carb studs and any pre bent steel vacuum or choke tubes may need adjusting.

Likewise, if you go too tall your shaker will turn hood sized!

Exactly. that will be the determining factor for spacer spacer height.

I guess one way would be to see how much crush your current shaker rubber has. Some remove it, I don't like that idea. Even a 1/4" spacer might help, or a heatshield like some had stock, gaskets required each side.

1/4" is the most that can be used. The rubber molding around shaker is almost at the hood. Just need to find the spacer.  Thanks

Looks like it's just us on this forum....if simply for cooling purposes you can use the 1/4" thick base gasket that was even standard on some models. It works as an insulator and is itself a gasket, but includes crush sleeves around each bolt.

You are correct.  I use this forum to search for hits on stuff I need to look for. I lot of info has been exchanged between members that helps out other members to solve issues. At time I just surf the site just to see what is out there. But lately there has been no posts of any kind. Shame. I know you are quite active in helping out.
Ok so I saw the part $ for the gasket but I think I might have to buy the bolts also since the original ones will be to short. Correct? But looking at the phpto of the fasteners, one set of bolts are longer than the other? Question..why?

If you are only using the 1/4 gasket then stock bolts are fine. If using any sort of spacer then you want to extend the bolts by the amount of extra height used so you still have enough threads used in the intake. If an alloy intake rather, which probably doesn't affect 301, many switch to studs so that the fragile threads aren't damaged with constant carb swaps.

UPDATE: got 1/4" spacer, just another gasket. Fit perfect and was able to use same bolts and nuts,,no changes. Hood closes good. Now have to take a long drive to see if it will actually help rid the vapor lock
