How It All Started

"The name of this organization  shall be The Trans Am Club of America, Dayton Chapter, Dayton Ohio. "
"The object of this organization shall be to encourage the use and  preservation of the Pontiac Firebird/Trans Am. "
These 2 statements makeup article I & II of the Dayton Trans Am Club by - laws.
Trans Am/Firebird owners and all other interested persons are eligible for memberships.
On October 25th, 1978 the Trans Am Club of Dayton was officially born.  Approximately 30 people
attended this first organizational meeting. Officers were nominated and elected at this time,
with Randy Wirner being named the clubs first president. Bob Blair is
our oldest and only charter member still on the active membership roster.
The club was incorporated the summer of 1981. Monthly meetings were held the first Sunday of every
month at the Moraine Civic Center.  Several years ago the club moved it's meeting place to
the Dayton Airport Hotel and voted to hold meetings bi-monthly. Activities over the years
have included parades, car shows, road rallys, picnics, parties, road trips, and alot of family fun.
Being avid car enthusiasts and taking pride in our rides has enabled us to travel and make
new friends all over the USA. Early on most of our members were local but in more recent years
we have become international with members from various countries around the globe.
In past years we have donated to many different charities, including;
the Moraine Civic Center Family Christmas Fund, Greene County Toys for Tots,
St. Joseph's Children Treatment Center, and currently we are supporting A Special Wish Foundation, Inc.
In 1985 the Dayton Club hosted our 1st annual TRANS AM NATIONALS at the Dayton Airport Inn.
With $500.00 borrowed from the club treasury, the nationals committee co-chaired by Bill Hale
and Jim Pederson went to work, and the rest is history! That year we had 103 cars registered.
Last year we had an overwhelming 507 participants. Our 8th year Bill and Diana Hale resigned and
Sue Emmel took over as co-chair and head of registration along with Becky Bayes.
Jim Pederson remained in charge of the auto technical position, assisted by Bob Smith and Dave Logsdon.
Debbie Pederson continued to be the Door-prize Lady, Mark and Nancy Longman took charge
of parking and Bill Bayes remained our P.R. man and nats gopher.
Many more club members and friends work diligently the entire weekend of the show.
Today our event is continuously growing and is the largest all Pontiac show in the country.
We pride ourselves on being a fun friendly, family oriented event.
As we enter the new milleniem we would like to thank Rodgers Pontiac
and the Dayton Airport Hotel who have supported us from the beginning.
Are you an avid Trans Am / Firebird enthusiast?
Are you interested in meeting others who share your interest?
Do you take pride in your car? I f you answered yes to any of these questions,

Dayton Airport Hotel the last weekend of August for a real thrill and become a member of the host club,
The Trans Am Club of America, Dayton Chapter, Dayton Ohio!
