"Here is a photo of my 1999 bird chilling at the park.
It's a V6 3800 series II sport appearance
edition...not many produced. It's somewhat modified
with K&N filters, Tornado fuel saver/hp boost, Borla
free flowing exhaust system. It Dynoed at 232 hp. Not
bad for a six shooter. Post it if you like."
Keep up the good site bro!

"The story on the hardtop is a pretty good one.... or at least it is to me. I found the car on the auto trader. It was just a black TA and there was little description about it, other than it was located in Michigan. The car was listed for about a week and I called just out of curiosity. .......... I talked to an 18 year old kid who had the car. He wanted $3,000 for it. He sounded pretty green and didn't know too much about Trans Ams at all. All he knew was that it was a V-8. I was losing interest and wasn't going to buy the car untill he started to describe the interior. He explained that the steering wheel was nice and it was gold. I asked if it had a gold dash bezel and he asked me what was a bezel. He said it was gold and that it also had a gold bird on the horn. He also said when he bought it the car had faded paint and gold decals. I then asked for the Vin # and ran it thru PHS. Sure enough it came back as a 77 Hardtop SE with a Pontiac 400. It is one of 748 built with out T-tops. I wired him the money the next day. ............It got to me about a week later. The car had a $400.00 Maaco paint job. The interior needed very little to be perfect. I had my paint and body guy look at the car and he fell in love with it. He really hooked me up with a great price. Once they stripped the car it really needed very little body work. The car has no rust. It must have been garaged during the winters. It has the original motor with 100,000 miles. It has the factory exhaust. Everything works on the car. ............... It is extremely tight and drives like it is 1977 once again. ........ I don't drive it everyday. I want to but the gas bill is too much. I just bought the new Nissan 350Z, so I like to drive that during theweek and play with the TA on the weekends. I plan on showing the TA in some local shows, here in Dallas this summer, and maybe possibly selling it. ......... People go crazy over the car. It is really funny how I can't part with it now. I am having the motor rebuilt in my 77 t-top car right now. So the hardtop is really tiding me over till I can get my other TA out of the shop. I bought the T-top car off Ebay and had to do soooooooo much more work to it and I have spent 3 times the amount of money to make it as nice as the hardtop. Go figure."

"Here are some pictures of my 1980 Trans Am. I previously owned a 1978 TA and purchased this car in 1983 from the orginal owner. The car was built at the Norwood, Ohio plant and has 301 motor, automatic, air conditioning, 4 wheel disc brakes, custom blue velour interior, tilt steering, cruise control, rear defrost, and T-Tops. Some recent upgrades are a 12 disc CD player, Flowmaster mufflers and the snowflakes wheels (thanks "Hitman") have been restored. I don't drive the car much just mostly to cruise in's, car shows and an occasional weekend drive. "

"I am the original owner of this 78 Formula. In fact I ordered the car at age 18, and the bond between man and his car is as strong as ever. 25 years later I still love my car and enjoy driving it on weekends and to car shows. It has 55K original miles, and has always been garaged all of its life.
Three years ago I had her painted by Harbor Restoration and they did a wonderful job. I still enjoy wiping her down and enjoying the reflection. Of course the cost of the paint job was more than I paid for the car in 78!
The car appears to be 100% stock form the exterior, with the only clue this may not be your ordinary Formula is the hood scoops are open. A turn of the key and this stock appearing bird comes alive. Over the years I have added the following performance upgrades: A 355HP ZZ4 replaced the original 350L engine, ceramic coated headers, dual exhaust w/Flow masters, 3:42 Richmond gears, custom steering box, HD springs front& rear, HD sway bars, B&M Shift Kit, and 8" Snowflakes also replaced the rally II's. Future plans call for HD 4 wheel disc brakes.
My Firebird garage mate is a 2001 Vette. The Firebird however enjoys near holly status, and is my true pride and joy. The car will never be sold as long as I am still breathing. Of course my 15 son thinks the car will be his someday. However, I'm glad his is a Firebird fan, and has no desire to drive a Japanese econobox with an oversized wing and muffler. I am sure someday he will have his own 2nd generation bird.
Thanks Hitman for all you do for the hard core Firebird folks!"

The white 79 TA is my son's first car. Not bad for 17, and not all too common in high school parking lots these days.
Since we posted my 78 Formula, it has been close to 2 years. True to the comments written at that time, John did get his own 2nd Generation Firebird. Now the neighbors have to wonder what's up with three Birds now in the driveway.
John's white 79 TA is highly optioned car with the following bells and whistles: power windows, power door locks, power trunk release, rear window defogger (non of mine have one) T-Tops, WS-6, and cruise control.
The car was purchased in upstate NY from a guy who called himself a car guy. His handy work on the car (now being redone) was as bad as it gets. However, the car is undergoing the a slow but methodical restoration while still serving as a daily driver.
We have already done a number of mechanical upgrades, but I am really looking forward to its interior is being restored to its original light blue. Future plans call for a rebuilt Pontiac 400 to replace the ailing Olds 403 now stilling under the hood. I am always glad to save one more TA from being driven into the ground, and bring it back to its original glory.
Thanks again for the posting, and when number 4 comes along someday, I'll be sure to post that one also.
