Just recently picked up this 78 W 72 4spd. car. Car is in nice condition. 27,500 miles, the usual modifications such as exhaust, cam and the addition of ram air III heads. Still have all the original parts though. ........ Thanks again for the info.

Hi hitman just discovered you site  These pics are from NZ  the car is a T/a replica built in fibreglass, here in NZ, using a Holden Statesman floor pan , steering and suspension. Powered by 454 chev, turbo 400 and 10bolt posi,  Coil sprung at rear,4link set up , other wise very much as the genuine thing! RHD, under 1500kg,in road trim 400hp goes great ,most people cant tell from the real thing  . Hope it creates some interest.
cheers Francis

1981 Turbo Trans Am

Phoenix AZ

This car originally came with a 301 Turbo.  I read in a Car Craft magazine that it was voted one of the worst V8 of all time :(.  That's why the car now has a Chevy 350!  I rebuilt the motor my self with the help of some friends.  It was the first one I did.  For the paint I am thinking on an all black perhaps.  The car has been lowered in the front.. maybe too much because the headers scrape over speed bumps.  But I think it gives it a great look.  I have been wrestling with emission standards/testing/compliance issues.  I think I have it figured out now.

Here you will find many pictures that you can use for your site.  Pick the one sthat you think will look best.  Perhaps a link to the movies from your site to mine?

Thanks for having a great site dedicated to Trans Ams.  In fact I have shown my mechanic some photos from your site.  I will be sure to send you updates as they happen.  The funds are always limited ya know.

Brett,
AWESOME site, I'll be referring all my friends to it. Great source for information too.
I too was entranced with the 1977 "Smokey and the Bandit" Trans Am which began my dream to own one. My first was a 1996, which unfortunatly met a 1989 Camero IROC head on. (pulling out of a driveway, no injuries) Both cars were totaled. Eventually I found my new baby. 2002 with Ram Air, WS6 and all the extras I wanted. This car is international, It was first registered in NYC, then in the UK, then in Missouri, and now SF CA. My guess is it belonged to a military person which makes me even more proud of it!
Keep up the great work!
Jeff

Stephanie & Dwayne's 1978 Pontiac Trans Am. This picture was taken just after the car has had been removed from storage. This is the first time the car has seen light or has been started in 27 years. Everything is original (except the tires) and it only has 1,999 miles on it.

I like your website and TA's. Three of 'em, huh, all black, very nice. I'd like add my TA to your pics of readers rides. The two from drag racing are back in the mid-90's at Oceanside, California, and the other pic is my newphew standing by the car the way it looks today. I've owned the car since 1988 and it's a 1974 455 Y-code car, with 1970 YH block (455 High Performance), 1970 455 "64" heads (10.25 to 1), 1974 SD carb, 1972 HO intake, reproduction Ram Air exhaust manifolds, THM 400 and 3.08 gears. The only non-Poncho piece on the motor is a Mallory electronic distributor. The car goes into the 13's at over 100 MPH always.

Thanks,
Terry
