Hey,
Just thought I would send a couple of pics of one of my newly owned limited edition firebird's.I love them to death and I traded a 76 Camaro for this one and it was well worth it.
Thanks,
James Quinn
i have watched your site regularly for some time now years in fact it seems and always find it interesting.....i have been over the past 3 years building a Trans am that was smashed and sold for parts..[to me] i live in UK so pulled out all the stops for this one as it was professionally converted to right hand drive when it came over back in 1978 ...i have had half a dozen over the years and they were all rotten mostly due to the English weather.
this was no exception and in fact the worst as had been staaaaanding for over year in the outside but as i said being Rh drive i was determined to get it on the road.
unfortunately it was a solid roof which i think is a waste of time with the trans am so i had to do something about that also.
i have done something many purists will hate me for but i have decided that if your going to improve on the original you might as well do it justice so i went out and bought a 1986 Nissan 300zx with T tops......you guessed it, i cut out the whole roof and also as the Trans am seats i think are a bit lame for such a cool car took the seats as well...[just the front ones]
The drivers has multi- functions all mechanical so easy to install and of course both have head rests which looks neat in the car..so i now have a lumber support Recaro based drivers and front passenger seat and two roofs that have very nice catches which lock up perfectly don't leak and are finished off nicely too...i don't think any of my previous ones roofs stood the test of time at all well as locking tabs /handles etc etc all broken off or were already broken off...
i then went on to custom the interior had it all retrimmed and as the dash was a fiberglass mirror copy of the original [ i suppose they did the best they could at the time as no right hand option was ever offered] i decided to have all the interior cheap manky plastic panels and dash and center console leatherette finished which has all come out fantastic really...i have fitted a starter button instead of the key start with led light and switch master control over the electrics which the kids think is cool....All the best from an English cousin and fellow TA nut.........lance
ps. i,m still waiting for new rear and side glass...i also have loads more pics heres just a couple

I was checking out your site and found the photo gallery area. I have found your forum too. As stated there, it is nice to have a Firebird resource close to home. The show photos are from the BOP show at Summit Racing over the summer. Here are my two Firebirds. One is a 78 Formula. It is pretty much stock with a 305 and currently has 21k miles on it. When purchased, it still had the original exhaust and Uniroyal tires. Only change is full dual exhaust with Trans Am splitters and a set of BFGoodrich T/A's. The 98 Trans Am is what some might call a WS7 car, which is a non-Ram Air car that was converted to a Ram Air with an aftermarket hood and air box. It has 33K on it. I bought the 98 right after I got married, sort of as a gift to my wife. She kept talking about how she liked the 4th gens, and now we both have the Firebird bug. We then found the 78 and couldn't pass it up, especially since it was white too. These are surely not the last Firebirds to occupy our garage!!

These are some pictures of three of four T/A's I own. A 99 30th Anniv. which is my daily driver and my 2002 Collector T/A that has 3700 miles on it. Both are six spds. I purchsed the 78 gold edition out of Chicago. I had the correct gold applied with new weather stripping. It has a 4 spd and only 14,500 miles on it. The car is awesome with complete documentation. I'm the second registered owner. The other car I own is another 78 T/A that is almost coplete. It's red on red with a trasnplanted 76' 455 punched to 462ci. 402hp and 5250 lb/ft. torque. Everything is powder coated except for engine or anything with seals which was painted. The rear end will be next to be powder coated. The Interior is next. Rims reconditioned by Hitman.
Thanks, rims look great. I'll post some pictures after car is done. I love seeing all these screamin' chickens. I'm on my way to having my own chicken coupe. i still want more! thanks kevin trahan
Hey I love your site it's perfect.anyways I just wanted to show my 79 ws6 403 t/a..It has 82,000 orginal miles.I umm
went ahead a built my 403 as best as i could for the buck and considering these 403,s don't like R's.anyhow I put a lunati cam ,edelbrock carb and performer rpm manifold, headers, and spent 80 hours on my heads.I was curious to see what it would run in the 1/4 ..oh yea it still has the 2:73 posi in at this time but it ran a flat 14 at 100 mph and I was still in 2nd.Now i just changed out the 2:73's with 3:90's..I have not ran yet so pretty curious to see.anyways ..love the site and thanks .gary from anch ak.
Here are some photo's before black and after, of my 1978 Trans Am, 400 big block Ho. 4speed hurst, with A hurst transmission. I paid 1.400 4 years ago off A guy who just had A kid and had to say good by to this beast. I use it for street rod and cruising with friends on the weekend.
