I takes me back to when I worked out of high school for two years in pipeline construction eventually to buy the Blackbird. I wanted the T/A 6.6 L black and gold edition. It's funny I never really had seen the smokey and the bandit movies till later.</div> <bR> <div> I think that was the coolest car I ever owned. By the time I could afford it however it was 1979 and I could only get the Blk/Gold 403 edition, still loved it though unfortuntly I ran out out money and between not eating and no gas for my bird I had to let her go. With a house and family, the Trans am no longer suited my requirements and it was traded in for a truck. As I grew older I still like the look of theTrans Am. My wife suggest to see if we could find my original T.A.. I still had all the original documents for it...bill of sale showing VIN number and options. It was traced to a girl who had owned it for several years. After contacting her, I found that she had sold it just two weeks prior to my call. What a let down. I left her my phone number, just in case the new owner needed information about it. Six months later, I received the call I was looking for. The car had been painted blue and he wanted the original paint colour code to put it back to original state. About a year later, and several conversations, I purchased the car back. This time costing me more than the original price I paid for it! September 2003 "My 76 TA" came home. ("My 76 TA" is now it's licence plate). Working on the car since then, to do minor improvements to getting it back to original state. Just recently I have obtained 1st place in a local car show..
