I am onto page 29 and would like to thank everyone for sending in their photos to be posted here. If you have a Firebird, Formula, Trans Am, or any other car that you would like to post here, please E-mail me with your photo and information and I will post your car here.

I have been a lifelong enthusiast and had a California “Oldsmobird” Y-88 with 7” snowflakes back in high school (class of 1980). I acquired the car while living in Palm Springs in 1979. Sadly, I didn’t know what I had and traded it in on a 1988 Nissan Maxima in 1987. It was a lifelong obsession after that. I always dreamed about getting another one but never pulled the trigger. That is until my wife asked me what car she could buy me if she ever won the lottery. I thought about a Ferrari Enzo or some other exotic, but realized I would never love those cars as much as my old “Tranny!” So I told her: a 1978 gold Trans Am was my “dream car.” Much to my surprise, she found one on EBay recently and after some last minute jockeying with a guy in Ohio, I bought this one. It’s obviously not a Y-88, but it is a W-72 with automatic produced in Jan 1978 and was ordered with the “t/a special performance pkg.” per PHS. It has the 8” wheels and thought that was correct. I bought it from an autoworker living in Stowe, Ohio with less than 22K on the odometer. He purchased the car from a dealer in nearby Chanoga Falls, Ohio and had it stored for at least the last 10 years as far as I can tell. He had it undercoated with Cosmoline back in 1978, so even though it was a mess and required lots of cleaning, the car is rust free except for the exhaust. I need to smog my T/A 6.6 but California is a tough state to get a car smogged in, you know? I had her shipped to San Diego last month. I’m glad for resources like yours and hope to share more with you real soon.
Thanks,
Gilbert Enciso
That's my 1979 Trans Am it has a 403 bolted up to a TH-350. It has headers and Flowmaster mufflers. Me and my old man topped it out at 125 the day after I got it. This picture was taken on the afternoon of prom and on the way to dinner I lost Drive in the tranny then I lost second gear I had to drive 15 miles home with just first gear. come to find out I shattered all the planetary gears and broke the main shaft, all just from a simple little power break. lucky for me I have a friend who owns a tranny shop and redid everything for $500 including getting me a new torque converter.

I am 18 years old and i really love this site im all about T/A's. I have a 1987 Trans am all origional beside the fact of the interior i customized it and still in the making. I also owned a 1984 for spare parts if i needed them, but unfortinently i dont have a garage to store that car is so since i live in the city the local police department said i couldnt keep it there anymore or i would be fined so i sold it to a buddy for $100. At the moment im looking at a 1974 Trans Am that i will be buying here this week. But here are some pictures i have of my 1987 Trans Am and i would really like to have a spot on you awsome webpage.
Brett,
Thank you very much for the reply. The car does have documented mileage at around 55,000. I think that probably counts as low for the year.
It is not wearing it's original paint although I would venture to suggest the paint is actually significantly better than the original. I have heard that some of the paint, particularly in 79 on the TA's left a little to be desired? It was undertaken by an expert and is frankly stunning, not a blemish. It also has aftermarket stereo and speakers. The shocks and suspension have also been upgraded. Other than that it is pretty much unmolested and it is a fully documented Y84, I have attached build sheet (found behind the back seats as your site suggested!)
Thanks again. I have found your website very interesting an informative.
Regards
Tim
Hi Hitman,
Your site is really great, I have attached a few pics of my 78 in hopes of you posting them with the other T/A's. Keep up the great site, your Bandit is really kool.... Thanks, >>Danny<<
