The exhaust system on my car was factory and wasn't the greatest when it comes to air flow. So, I decided to do a little bit extra this year. I started out with a set of Headman Headers to give the engine a little better flow for the exhaust. It seemed that the engine was working hard but not getting anywhere. After the

headers, I went with true dual exhaust through 2 inch pipes out the back for that little extra bit of breathing room. I also added a set of Flowmaster Mufflers for again improved air flow and also to give the car a little rumble to it. I finished it all up with a new set of chrome tailpipes. Mine were not in bad shape, but I figured as long as I was doing everything else, why not the split tailpipes to go along with it. Now, since I am no welding expert

(or even a novice) nor do I have the tools to bend pipes, I had to take this to a professional shop to get this done. Also, to put the headers on, you have to unbolt the engine from the motor mounts and jack up the engine to get the old manifolds off and put the new headers on. I did keep the original manifolds, and mufflers just in case I sell this car and the buyer wants the original, I have the parts. It is always a good idea to keep the originals in any modification that you do just for the sake of the originality of the car. All in all, the Headman headers cost me $180.00, the Flowmaster

Mufflers were $100.00 and it was about $350.00 to put them in with 2 inch pipes. The better exhaust should improve the overall horsepower of the car. Go take a look at the results of the drag times to see how much this improved my quarter mile time. I gained about a full half second in the times and I'm guessing about 20 to 25 more horsepower at the rear wheels. Not to bad for just doing the exhaust.
