Leaning Seats
I actually found this fix on the National Firebird and Trans Am Club's website message board. It was posted by KillerTA. I had this problem with my seats, but never actually took a look at them to see what the problem was. then one day while I was browsing the message board I found this post:
": : : I found a cheep fix for second gen TAs with seats that lean toward the center of the car. The problem is a plastic bushing on the inner post on the seat that cracks and falls off over time. This allows the seat back to come back to far on the inside. Now for the fix goto your nearest NAPA parts store and pick up a set of Ford tailgate bushings part #675-5144. About $5.00 for the kit. The kit contains 4 bushings. The short ones are the right size. Install them and no more leaning seats. Hope this is a help.

So, I tried it out and it actually worked. I first removed the front seat from the floor. There are 4 bolts that hold the seat to the floor. I would remove the bolts in the back first. Slide the seat all the way forward so that you can gain access to the 2 bolts located in the rear. Loosen them but don't remove them yet. Once they are loose, slide the seat all the way to the rear to access the front 2 bolts. You can remove these all the way. Now reach behind and remove the 2 rear bolts. They should be loose enough to remove them with your hand. Now, don't worry about taking the seat belt off, you don't need to. Just lift the seat up and set it right outside the drivers door.
Now you can use an alan wrench to remove the inner post from the seat and make sure you note which way the washers come off so that you can put them on the same way. Now, just slide the bushing on the post and re-install into the seat.
With that done, you can now put the seat back in and re-install the 4 bolts that hold the seat to the floor. Actually, before you do that, you might as well get out a vacuum and clean out under the seat really well because who knows when you are going to have this easy of an access to it. Take a look below for the before and after shots.
