Transmission
I didn't do any major work to the Transmission like a rebuild or anything, all I did was change the gasket, filter, and fluid. I started the car and let it warm up a little and shifted through the gears a few times to warm the oil and work free any sediment or debris that may have been in there. I then loosened the bolts on the oil pan and slowly pried down one corner to drain the fluid that was in there. Of course this wasn't the cleanest job in the world and it didn't quite work out that easy. I would suggest having a large drain pan underneath to catch all of the fluid. Once the fluid was drained, I completely removed the oil pan from the housing. Once that was off, I took off the old transmission fluid filter by removing the two bolts that held it in place. (Remember how you take this off so that you can put the new one on correctly). There is also a small gasket (it comes in the kit) that is placed between the filter and the transmission. Make sure all of the holes line up and bolt the new one into place. Once the new filter was in place, I concentrated on cleaning up the old oil pan to get ready for the new gasket.
This wasn't too hard to do, the old gasket came off fairly easily with minor scraping and the old gasket sealant came off with a dry rag with a little bit of elbow grease. Once this was free of any remaining gasket material for the old gasket, I cleaned it up, put a small bead (about a 1/4 inch bead) around the pan and placed the new gasket in place making sure all of the bolt holes lined up correctly. I carefully slid the pan back into place making sure that I didn't disrupt the gasket and started to bolt it back into place. Just like any other project, make sure you work in a diagonal fashion when tightening the bolts. I replaced the fluid (about 3 1/2 quarts) and started the car back up again. I applied the brake and shifted through the gears a couple of times to make sure the new oil worked it's way through. I then rechecked the fluid level and made sure that it was a 1/4 inch below the fill mark and then I was all set to go.
