Removing the Old Paint

You need to be careful when using the aircraft stripper to remove the paint.  Make sure that you are not close to anything else with paint on it or that will be stripped as well.  So make sure you are away from your car when you do this.  Also, make sure you are wearing some gloves because this stuff will eat through your hands as well.  If there is a breeze out wear a mask as well so you don't inhale this stuff.

Ok, spray on the aircraft stripper making sure you spray it on evenly.  Let it soak in for a good 5 to 10 minutes.  Sometimes it takes longer to soak in.  You should see it start to bubble the paint away.  After 5 to 10 minutes you can start to scrape away the paint using a plastic paint scraper or even an old rag.  This might take a few coats to do.  Make sure that between coats you rinse the rims off well and let them dry before applying the next coat of stripper.

Stage 1: Paint just starting to fade away.
Stage 2: More paint being removed
Stage 3: Down to bare aluminum
