Well ... in Ohio.  Every state has different rules.  In California, you have to run your vehicle with an Obama sticker to get free gas and a mortgage payment coupon.

HILARIOUS!!! Cheesy Cheesy

I was reading another thread and someone pointed out that the year one BRE uses what appears to be the same headlamps that you can buy off of ebay for 88-98 Chevy trucks(the projector versions). Has anyone tried doing this? The pictures of the ebay kit don't look all that great to me as there are gaps all the way around.

These are $110 with shipping($75+35 shipping)

I was thinking of getting something such as this

or

These last 2 are about $30 a set on ebay. So $60 to do the front of the car(free shipping).

What's the link for those headlights. And it is basically a lot of fiber glass work to do the conversion.

I'm interested in the square ones for the '79s.  I assume they'd have a blue tint to 'em ... what is a good link?

The last picture of the square light looks pretty sweet.  I would love to see those on a TA!

Rats I can't find the exact links again. However I pulled them from ebay.com just search for "4x6 headlight" and you get tons of hits. They're all basically the same chinese product being sold by various sellers.

Jphillips those are the ones that I like. While the project lights are cool I don't think they would flow well with the rectangular shape of the housing. Also being cheap imported products I seriously doubt that they would provide the accurate cut off that is expected when using HID's.

Yeah ... you're probably right.  It take some ingenuity or a reseller to bundle a solution sometimes.

They took a lot of work.  There are a couple guys that have done them and the fab work is what took the longest.  I wish I had that kind of skill.

could you explain "accurate cutoff"

When I refer to cutoff i'm referring to a crisp line. When installing HID's you want a crisp cutoff line. Here is a pic for an example.

In the above picture you can see that the light isn't shining all over the place, It keeps the light on the road and not blinding other drivers or wasting the light in the night sky. What this means is more light aimed out on the road in front of you. The more light aimed directly at the road in front of you, the better you will be able to see at night. Now here is an example of HID's put inside of a crappy headlamp. You can see how the light shines all over the place and doesn't really benefit the driver any.

This is caused by placing HID bulbs/ballasts into a halogen headlamp. Now to be fair the chinese ones do have a special projector capsule to put the HID bulbs into but who knows how good they will work..
