My car is sitting sky high in the front, is it possible somebody replaced the originals for the wrong year, it is a 1970 and I don't know if the later years had a different height spring. The suspension is nearly topped out, yet it doesn't feel stiff in the front. It may be time to chop off an inch or so?

thanks,
Kelly

Post some pix.  Could it be a combination of sagging rear leaf springs and smaller front tires?

May be a bad question, and I mean no offense from it, but do you have an engine in it?

I'm guessing the rear is sitting too low.
I will be adding big block springs in the future.
I imagine someone got tired of scraping the street when pulling into parking lots.
In my neighborhood, lowered cars do not fare well.
I would leave it like it is,and repair the rear if needed..

thanks for the morning laugh Anderson, I got a chuckle out of that one.

Like I said before, it is nearly topped out, close to the rubber bumper on the A-arm, lifting the front of the car will top it out easily. They, the previous owner, has the rear jacked up to compensate I'm sure, it has some "helper" coil springs around the shocks. Although it has 14" wheels on it, the front is still sitting way too high, apprx. 3" at least. Here is a pic that shows the center of the wheel marked by the bottom of door and bottom of rockers, the red car is the only other pic I had as a reference off hand.

So, is it possible a different year uses different height springs? thanks, Kelly

for some reason it says the upload folder is full and I can't post the pic?

Easily resize your pics.
Drop a big block chevy motor in it to fix it. Grin

blasphemy,

yes, they are both the same, sits nearly as high as the 72 sitting next to it with no engine, guess it doesn't matter, I'll have to lower it one way or the other, just thought maybe they stuck 76-81 springs in it, if in fact they are different.

I put shocks on my 69 Camaro that wouldn't compress, no matter what we did.  We finally had to send it back, maybe you have the same problem?

OK forget about the "big block" theory, start by loosening all the control arm bushing bolts REAL loose, bounce the front end and tighten the bolts back up with the weight on the TIRES also add some neg.camber
