The current rubber on my ride are 245/60/15 I believe.
I'm running the stock snow flakes.
This tire size is no longer available,as far as I can tell.
Probably need to go with 235/60/15 but...

Anyone running taller 15 inch rubber?

255/60-R15 is "the" popular size.

I run 235/60 and 295/50's on the '76.

Tirerack.com shows the 245/60/15 "in-stock" (in a BFG T/A tire) but I agree with John, 255/60/15 is a great size for a T/A.

I must be one of the minority, I would pick 235 over the 255, the 255 just look too big for the rims in my opinion, they just don't look "right". 245 would be about right, but I definetly am not old school enough to like the tall tires, IF you are asking opinions that is. the 235/60/15's look good in my book, are you running 7 or 8" snowflakes?

The 255s look better on 8" rims than they do on 7" rims, in my estimation.

original post was dealing with 60 series tires, I assumed by "tall" he was talking about 70 series, as was I.

I can see how my sentence was confusing though, my statement about the 255/60's was that they just seem overly large and bulky, and 245/60's would be just about right in my personal opinion of course. I'm not knocking 70 series either, but they do have a different "look".

on my other T/A I used to own I had 245/60 15's on the back and 235/60/15s on the front and absolutly loved the look.
rims were 15x8 rear and 15x6 front cragars.
If interested I might have a set of 255/60 bfgs 4 sale

I believe I have the 8 inch snow flakes, but I'll need to measure them again.
The 245/60/15 look great on the car,but my tire shop, discounttiredirect doesn't carry any rubber in that size.
I guess I could pay the extra and get the tire rack T/A's
The car currently has air shocks, and a nice stance, but will be replaced with correct gas shocks.
I guess I'll be watching for a nice rebate, and see what I can accomplish.
My roads are terrible,I don't want to be rubbing the fender wells.
I'm leaning towards the 235/60/15.
I was asking about the 70 series tires, but I see most people like the 60 series.

as far as the wheel width...look at the lip...  as far as the size... most here like the 255 but the final choice is yours

I think a 235 are almost getting to small . Here is a pic of my new 255-R60 15's ,and I think they look to fat on the front . I have seen others here with 245 60r 15's and they look much better imo . They are just a little narrower making them look much better on an 8 inch wheel .
A 255 is fine on the rear ,but I may go to a 245 on the front next spring . Each to his own of course . You loose height every time you change . My 255's 60R is not as tall as my factory 225 70R 15's. and unfortunatly when I put a 245 on the front ,they are going to be shorter yet . I think it will look ok though

I have been contaplating changing tire size in the rear right now I got 275/50/15 but If I go smaller width I am afraid I will have no traction because i have a very bad traction problem with the wide tires

Nice looking ride!
The wider tires are great on dry pavement, but here in Ohio,a little mist and the ride gets scary fast.
Especially with the posi slide around corners.
