When you turn your car on does it return the favor

Looking for the two braces that connect from the fender to the front clip.  They reside just under the hood.  Thanks.

Not to get picky, but they also had a LEFT fender brace too...

(Laughing hysterically......)

I've got pics of them installed if you need some.  They should be the wide flat steel ones.

Here's a pic I found that shows the braces, one on the left and one on the right...

Smart a s s.....

Some people again use the wrong fender braces for the year car that it is.  The thick ones stopped in 1974, but I wanted to make sure he knew that before I said anything.

Hey Brett, Two of my 76's have the wide braces. I had been on the look out for a set and heard that 75 was the last year from another source. So, I kind of put the search on hold until I could figure out for sure.

Anyone else have any supporting evidence of wide fender braces on 75/76 models?

I just gutted a 76 last year and it had one wide brace on the passengers side too.

TI, 76 didn't use fender braces. It was the only year not to use them. We went thru this on my friends 9000 mile 455 4 speed TA. He even got docked at the NATS because he put them on figuring that someone took them off. So afterward we went thru every parts book I have and there isn't a part number to be had for them. Go figure!

This one has me all up in the air. I've seen with and without. I have a 76 400 with 71,000 miles that I'm the second owner of and it has the braces. My 76 455 4 speed with AC doesn't. I assumed they were MIA. I recently sold a 76 400 auto that had the braces too.

I've found a lot of things screwy with the 76's that don't pan out when it comes to "the book says" stuff. Anyway, heres a nice pic of a 2700 mile 76 TA and you can see the braces are not on this one either.

Dunno about the 76, but my 75 TA (pictured above) had them.  I ordered the car from Pontiac and have had it continuously in my possession since it rolled off the new car transport in March 75.  The braces are off now, but that's because they were removed as part of a "weight reduction" program I instituted.  You should see the stuff bolted to the front bumper underneath to get the car to pass the DOT regs...  :?

Wink  didn't mean to sound that way, I mentioned both sides as the right one is hard to see in the pic.

We had a big thread on this over at TAC and I believe I remember the resulting conversation indicating that the '74 and '75 had the wide braces but '76's did not have the wide braces.

Also, my overflow jug bracket hooks up to the brace, which I don't have.  It's been juryrigged (spelling?) and actually fell off this week while driving.

Rich-check out www.blockersperformance.com. They just started selling fender braces that will fit '73 to '81 Firebirds and Trans Ams. They are made out of 6061-grade aluminum. The look very similar to the early "flat" braces, not like the skinny ones on my '81. The suggested retail is $75.00 a set.

Youch!  If I'd have known they were that expensive, I'd have kept better track of my original ones.  I still have them, but only know where one is for sure at the moment. :?

Rick they claim that these are 10 pounds lighter than the stock units. If you are into weight savings, these might be the way to go. Plus you can go all "BAN ONE" on them and polish them up to a mirror finish is you want.
