Yo, El Conquistador (Thats spanish for Hitman), Whats up with the star rating system? What seperates junior peons from the 5 star El Presidente' (more spanish, same reference).  I better not have to do anything lewd to get promoted !!!

The Star rating systems is based on the number of posts. 

0 - 100 posts is Jr. Member
100 - 500 posts is Member
500 - 1500 posts is Sr. Member
1500 - ?? posts is Adv. Member

Ahhhh, sounds like a new term in the making.  Forum Spamming :  posting lots of useless crap just to increase your number of stars and appearance of importance.  Very interesting idea,  Lets see I only need about 1325  or so to get to the four star level....... Man this could take time.  Need to find an automated forum spamming program...

How about a color code for the stars?  You know....kinda like black marks by your name...RED for a warning.....BLUE for probation...etc.   That way it could warn others about bad influences.   Thankfully I haven't seen any of that type of behavior on this site.. ;)

There is another option that I have disabled on this forum that is called "Karma".  That is kinda what you are talking about.  It is kinda like a feedback rating on Ebay, but not in numbers.  You can give a person a smiley or not and it increases or decreases thier "Karma" settings.  I disabled that feature because I did not want any bad blood starting with that.

Can you explain "increases or decreases their Karma settings"?   I don't care what color my star(s) is, (in a wierd way), just don't allow it to change any settings.  I'm not saying that my stars would ever change colors (yeah, right).  :o

Karma is a feature that shows the popularity of a member. Members, if allowed, can 'applaud' or 'smite' other members, which is how their popularity is calculated. You can change the number of posts needed to have a "karma", the time between smites or applauds, and if administrators have to wait this time as well.

Don't worry about it Eroc.  Right now the next level is 1500 posts.  So, when you get close to that, I will raise it to 2000.... then when you get close to that, I will raise it to 2500...... and so on..... and so on......
