First off I would like to thank all of you who have made this site what it is and have made the Forum here their home for whatever period of time you have been here. I do appreciate all of you who have called this place their home. As I have said many times in the past, I just built the house, it is the people here who have made it feel like a "Home". I know when this Forum first stared I did spend quite a bit of time on here responding to posts and helping keep this Forum a friendly place for all to be. I have tried my best to keep it a "Family Friendly" site and try to be "Politically Correct" as much as I could. I tried to keep offensive language or objectionable material off the site as to try and keep it a clean place for all. I know over the past few years that I have not had the time to spend on the Forum as I have in the past and I do regret not spending the time here to keep that feeling going. I have tried to do the best I could with the time I had to spend here and I realize that has not been enough. I spent alot of time many years back building this site from scratch to make it what it is today. I did not piggy-back or spring-board off of anyone. I just built it and everyone seem to find it. It gained momentum on it's own accord thanks to the members here. I sometimes find it offensive and disrespectful when others use my hard work and dedication that I have here to launch their own personal aspirations.
As the Forum has gotten larger, the personalities have become more diverse as have the opinions and ideas. Some people have commented on the "Cliques" that are here on the site. Well, there didn't used to be those cliques here. I always like to use the analogy of my High School.. I went to Kirtland High School which I only had 98 students in my graduating class and only 398 total students in the entire High School. Yes, we did have the cliques like "The Jocks", "The Brains", "The Burn-outs", "The Preps" and so on. But the difference was that even though those cliques were still present, the cliques all got along together. At High School parties, they were still all seen together. The student population was small enough to where the differences were small enough and people could get past them and just enjoy the good times. Now if you look at Mentor High School which is the neighboring town, there are around 1,100 in the graduating class and about 5,000 students in the entire High School. There is a big difference in the way those cliques interact with each other just due to the sheer size and numbers and the vast varieties of personalities there. You won't see "Jocks" at a "Burn-out" party nor visa-versa.... it is a different dynamic. Kirtland High School also had one Principal and one Vice-Principal that help run the School and the Students. Mentor High School has a Principal and Vice-Principal for every grade. And I guess in certain ways this forum has grown to the point to where some of the differences in opinions and views and personalities now have a hard time interacting with each other. This Forum started out as the Kirtland High School and has grown into the Mentor High School. I wish that was not the case and maybe in some ways I am at fault for not being here to help bring those differences together to help everyone get along and I apologize for that fact as I am truly sorry that it has happened.
Others have said that they have been treated "unfairly" or "unjustly" here on the site. Again, I am sorry that some feel that way or if that has been the case. I have tried to run this site as fairly and evenly as I could. I treated all as equals and tried to treat everyone with the same respect across the board. But sometimes it was brought to my attention LONG after the fact of others being treated differently by some. But the thing is, that it was never brought to my attention at the time it was happening, but not until many many months later. If I don't know a situation or event was happening, then I couldn't in all fairness handle the issue at hand and handle events fairly because I was not made aware of it. I have an open-door policy and treat everyone with the same respect when they come to me with an issue. I am sorry that my open-door policy wasn't well known and members didn't feel comfortable coming to me with an issue or maybe they just though that I would somehow know everything that is going on. Well, I apologize that I didn't know everything that was happening and didn't have the time to devote to reading every post that is here.
Others have said that I have a "Hidden Agenda" or "Alterior Motives" like the Forum or the website is some kind of a front for something and I have some sort of "Master Plan" or am I some sort of "Schemer". I am like a dog chasing a car.. I wouldn't know what to do with it if I caught it. I am a simple man with simple aspirations. I just wanted to create a website with information regarding the Second Generation Pontiac Trans Am. I wanted to create a Forum to allow all to ask questions, find more information, meet others and speak their mind. I wanted to create a store to help others save some money on Parts since I am a distributor or many of the larger companies. That was it...... There is no "Hidden Agenda" nor is there "Alterior Motives", it was just that simple. I am not trying to be a Year One of Classic Industries with my website store. I am not trying to corner the Trans Am market on the Forum. I just try to make a friendly, useful and enjoyable place for people to spend some time on the Internet with like-minded people.
Maybe I am just blind to the things going on here and I know I have not spent enough time here and I do apologize to all the members for my absence. I apologize to all the current and past members if they feel they have been treated unfairly here by myself or others. I do also thank all of the current and past members for their time spent here sharing their knowledge and expressing their opinions and making this Forum what it is today. I cannot make any of you stay, I am just trying to host a nice place to be. I know with everyone, including myself, that your time is limited in any given day to spend browsing the Internet and finding a place you can go to forget about the work day or troubles in your life. For most it is an escape from reality to come and have a few laughs and maybe help others out or learn something yourself. That is all I ever hoped it would be.......
Again, I just built a house, it is the Members here that make it a Home and I thank all of you for that and thank you for your continued visitation here if you so choose.

Very well said Brett....though honestly it didn't need to be said (in my opinion anyway).
I've never seen this as anything other than what you describe...just what it is: a place to gather information, ask/answer questions, and meet others with similar interests along the way.
I completely understand what you're referring to as "cliques"....I think overall, it is one big clique here though some may feel the need to split off into different groups.
I don't get that but then again, I don't need to.
I initially came here a few years ago from another site that I was very active on when that site crashed (had to get my T/A "fix" somewhere). By the time the other site was back online, I had made my home here so I stayed (and also didn't feel it was right to abandon a group that had welcomed me not as a "refugee", but as a friend). It takes quite a bit to upset me and would take a LOT to make me feel I needed to leave or abandon friends.
I do my best to befriend everyone and assist anyone that asks for help...and I appreciate those that help me as well. I've made a lot of truly good friends here over the years...friends I would have never made had I not participated in this hobby and this forum....for that, I'm thankful.
Now I think I'm going to go chase cars, that kinda' sounds like fun ;D

This has been my only real home as I have made alot of good friends here too. The info I get here is top notch and never have I been talked down to. So really thank all of you for allowing me to be here.

There is no way, in the nearly 2 years I've had my first T/A, that I could have learned as much as I have without this site and the people on it. Plain and simple. Thanks Brett and to everyone who's helped me.

Brett ya have a great site here and folks will come and go. Forums will crop up and die out. Fly by night friends come and go etc etc etc.
Folks change, things change but one thing remains the same and that is the fellowship 78TA brings TA owners together. I myself run forums as well and can say very clearly it is something that eats your time alive and for a forum to start up and stay alive it takes time everyday for years. You have done this year in and year out.
Not only the actual forum but more importantly the HTML CONTENT, hours upon hours go into creating one page of information for folks to enjoy on the house.
You have always strives to plow out tons of free content and reference material for folks to enjoy and they do day in and day out.
As far as "agendas" and "evil plans" it is very safe to say the folks who cry unfair are the first in line many times to bash for their own agendas.
In a nutshell F' em if they don't like it and always sort through the S**T to find the pearls (Never clean your fingers by licking them though) <--- bad idea.
You have a great sites which has stood the test of time, we as a company are here to stay as per sponsorship and I do refer folks here all the time.
You will always have folks claw at you when you are on top, that is something to be proud of. In time folks will sort through the rubbish and know the base sites which have great folks and are here to stay.
78TA has been a staple for the TA community and I don't see that changing anytime soon. The haters can earn the right after they have stood the test of time, until then it is all just hot air.

this is the first forum i ever joined and i plan to stay, everything has been great outside of some drama from time to time. i lurk a little on the other sites but this is home.

This has been a great forum and lots of great people. I could have never completed my builds on my TA or learned the things I've learned if hadn't been for this forum. It is has always been a good place to meet people and learn stuff about our hobby.

I don't do drama, life's too short! I love this site, don't get online as often as I used to, people here (most) are great. You have provided a home for those of us that love our Birds and enjoy similar interests. If some people leave and do their own thing, so be it, they should'nt bash others in the process-never okay. I started a website with a buddy and it was a PITA and it didn't last long!(Testament to your hard work and diligence) Don't Envy You but Appreciate you and this site so I hope it never grows too Old for you?! Several things have been bought through here including a new baby "80 t/a" and parts and everything has been awesome. Thanks for the site because it provides guys like me who are only a few years into the resto scene a chance to get information and share frustrations and shoot have a laugh too.

Again thanks "hitman" if I ever get a sight up i would hope to create one as cool as this one. Like you said though, it is a house and its the ppl that fill it. I know there are a lot of helpful ppl here who truly love their cars and enjoy helping others. as I learned from this site i to have grown to like helping others with their T/A. I like knowing that when I go to a car show and see a "78" T/A with a newer model dash bezel that is not correct for the year. I like knowing that during a concourse style car show the valve stems should line up with the left wing of the "bird" on the wheel center. (thanks 4speed) . I feel comfort that if I need a part or if I have a question about my car this is my first place I go and 90% of the time it is solved. my first purchase for my car were the decals which "hitman" helped me choose the right color for my car as I did not have a clue. Since then I have made a few purchases from this sight from others here and it has always been perfect. It shows the character of the ppl here. I have sold a couple of things here to or advertised my ebay item. This has been for free!!! Free classifieds? it also is the best place to advertise because you hit a direct shot to the ppl who are interested in your trans am product. So free classifieds! Free how to info! Free information! This is a rare site in a sea of many and I am glad to be here....thank-you

Thanks Brett. I am happy to be here as well. I would not have been able perform the restoration I did without the people on this site and others. This is my home away from home though. Drama is not my thing so I say little and enjoy all the sites and stay friends with everyone. Works for me.

This was the first TA forum that I joined and I've learned a lot about our CARS....I've met a lot of good people on ths site and there are still good people here. As long as Brett continues to have this site for us I will continue to come here....I do frequent the other sites (As does most of the members of all the sites) and they are just as good as well. I appreciate the owners of all of the sites because without them the friends (or Enemies ::) ) that we have made would have never have happened.

It's a great site with a lot of info. It needs to be taken for what it is. It's not reinventing the firebird or claiming fame or to be the greatest. I have been on here for a while now. I can definitely agree it is the ppl that make it what it is. Over the past 5-6 years I have seen this sites "attitude" change with newer members coming on board. Seems to be a pretty hostile place more often then not. I do not know why. I think a lot of pride gets pushed around. Almost like some people feel they invented the f-body and always telling someone they are wrong. I use it to meet fellow TA/f-body enthusiasts who just like to talk cars and BS. I didn't know an ounce of Pontiac or TA knowledge (still don't claim to know a whole lot) but after being on here and getting schooled and meeting a few members in person I feel like this site is a home of sorts. I will continue to use it for what the purpose was intended for. I'm on a ton of GTO,F-body,Blazer,Mitsubishi,Honda, hobbyist forums and I have NEVER seen anyone get mad because someone else had another forum and might have the same members on each. I do not care who was here first or last. Just looking for a place to put my feet up,open a beer and chat and learn about these cars.
I think Brett has made some great frame work to this house and I thank all the others who have helped out in the rest of building this to make it a good place to be.
Tin Indian may be a big guy but he has gentle hands and will make a great Mid Wife for anyone interested. Just saying.

Great site Brett. Because of this site I was able to get my dream car running through the help of people on this site and also just started making friends. ;D I couldnt ask for more. I will be a loyal member for years to come.

I agree with those above, the site is a great place and since 2008 I have learned alot. This site has seen me through the TATA and now the 81. I like that I can post a question and get the help I need to keep me from doing anything stupid, or having to undo it and do it twice.

I have been on Hitman's site for at least 6-7 years and I have nothing but good to say about Brett's high quality site and information about 2nd gen TA's. It helped me tremendously in my 1st restore. I later joined the forum and as with society, I think the mentioned observations are simply a reflection of people's choices on how they let themselves interact with others especially those on a forum where they don't have to get to know well or face them face to face. This is a dilemma not just on forums but everywhere.
For me, I refuse to allow myself to foster the lack of self control to not stop and always think about what I write or say remembering that I am talking to another human being and should show respect as I wish to have respect shown to me. It is always easier to do this when two people are face to face on a daily basis interacting and developing a relationship based upon mutual respect. Seems that people are less likely to give "the benefit of the doubt" to others especially when distance is there. I hope that all would seriously think about their responses to any other human being before deciding to respond in order to choose the most respectful way to make whatever point they believe is needed. We can only hope to do this consistently while on this forum. Brett, you have always been this way based upon my observations and you are not responible for those who aren't.

I am a newer member to this site and want to thank you for setting everything up. I used it a lot at first and took notes from questions answered by others. Your site has been a huge help for me in continuing my restoration. Through your site, I discovered fBodywarehouse and their awesome "how to" videos. Thanks again and keep up the great work.

When did this forum become so dead? It was only a few years back I'd read and respond to 20 new posts on here and then do the same at TAC and one or two others. Now you're lucky to get a new post each week. Is everyone just chatting on fbook now or just elsewhere?

It is sad. I enjoy reading up on other's projects or things they get stuck on and still learning new trivial things. I tend not to ever look at these lobby and chat pages, don't come here to socialise.

I completely agree. ..some good stuff on various Facebook groups...but SO MUCH misinformation out there

Plus, the info on fbook pages only stays current for a few days then disappears down the page into oblivion. There's no quick and easy access of topics or a decent search where future corrections or discussions can be made. I already spend far too much time on forums, I can spend twice that time finding barely anything on the same fbook groups and not know it was there to be found.

Yeah, Other than the few glances, I can't seem to get into the FB pages...I definitely prefer the forums...We did have something awesome here 10 years ago but...stuff happens, life changes people and situations and those that adapt will, and others don't. Some like me disappear for awhile and come back to a quiet house. It happens

This site has a special place in my heart. Brett put me in touch with the owner of my 78 Formula that I was able to buy back after 19 years. I saw it during an Internet search and it was on this site. I'll always be grateful.

Financially, I haven't been able to do much with my TA in the last couple of years. Divorce is no joke. Modern slavery! lol But I have used this in the past and it is still marked as my go to resource for future work. I wish I had been more social as I read the posts. Seems there is an opportunity to make some good connections and a friend or two. Maybe some meet and greets at car shows?
Looking forward to this remaining a place for helpful and reliable information.

I started here in March 2009. love this forum. id hate to see it go, but everything comes to an end at some point. all my TAs are long gone and I'm into other stuff now. like grand baby's and my home machine shop... I still Love the birds and always will. and will be at the NATS every year selling my CNC Plasma Cut Firebirds

Reading through all the posts in this thread it reminds me a lot of what a Corvette site (ie. family) I'm a part of has gone through. Activity ebbs and flows but the constants of the friendships and respect are primary driving factors in staying a part of the community. Even though I haven't been very active on this site in recent years we still our '78 T/A (but it's nickname has changed) and I do come here occasionally looking for answers to things. Brett, I just sent you an e-mail with some hosting site info that may help some.
As others have said, keep up the good work...!!!

Been gone a while as i had started a new job, began and completed home projects. Is the site still active, I really enjoyed having this site for references and just reading others posts. I hope that this site hasn't died.

78ta.com is still active. The activity has dwindled a lot but the information here is priceless.
Don't pay any attention to the negativity posts. Sometimes it's fun to read. Most of it is just wasted reading.

The ones complaining are those that used to like helping, not the ones getting helped. I'm still here several times a day, a lot going on at home and work too so not sure how that really matters. I had a look at the FB versions of the forums, utter rubbish. No topics, nothing assisted, just shared videos and pics of someone elses car and no search option to find that useful post.

I'm not pretending.......I just don't get why you would come on a site and post "Time to shut this forum down". There is so much info here. And some great people also. You could pretend this site doesn't exist and just stay away. Do you have something against 78ta.com? Or any of the moderators? Did something happen in the past that has left you bitter toward this forum?

Walli........You have a world of knowledge on these classic cars. I am envy of what you and others know. I continue to learn every single time I log in...on any forum about TA's. I have seen multiple times where you would make comments about not getting responses on a topic. It seems to get your panties in a wad pretty easy. Have you always felt this way? I mean.....you reply to a post that's 1 year old. I guess it seems kind of rude? about the way you come off on some of your responses. Maybe it's your demeanor....I can't say. I don't know you personally. But I do know you have a passion for these cars. As do I.
With the knowledge you have on these cars I will, as well as everyone else, always encourage you to contribute.

Topics that are one year old still matter. Remember, there's a lot of good info on here. It's not recent. It's all old. And if there's a topic that's a bit incomplete then I'll add to it. That's still the info ppl search for, and provides new updates to read.
And the phrase is 'couldn't care less' or it implies that you do still care some amount as opposed to not at all. The US gets it backwards without thinking what it means.
I'm realistic. I don't want to lose a forum. But if no one uses it and it costs money, well.

i like to look in and see whats going on. This was and is my very favorite and limited number of sources of info for my beloved 2nd Gen T/As I'm not into the Facebook thing and there's just not the same info as here. It is sad to see what has been happening here. Last year no one posted anything about Nats or the Bandit Run. I missed the Nats. I miss the comraderie. At least we still have all the information.

I still get a lot of PM's from new guys. They find an old post and want info on something or a pic of something I mentioned. So we swap info there. But then they are gone and still haven't posted on the group at all. Whereas it's often the new guy posting on the group that doesn't respond to the first reply, go figure. Anyway. Anyone interested in mirror gaskets lol.

Sorry it took so long to get to this but...I really thought I had more ductwork stored away.
All I have found are (3) of #1 and (2) of #4 (referencing the diagram Wallington posted a link to).
And also (2) of another duct not shown in the diagram.
Unfortunately I do not have 2, 3, and 5 you mention needing.
