To all my new friends at 78TA.com  I purchased this car yesterday after looking HI/LO and this is my future 'Dream Car'.  She may not be much to look at now, but she has great bones.  I sent her to paint/body today as I am not even talented in that field.  I've waited since 1978 to 0wn a car like this and I just can't wait any longer.  I just wanted to say I'm glad I found this site and glad I'm not the only one out there.

As you all know these cars are getting harder to find.  Like a good Burt Reynolds movie.  This ones all original down to the CB (Hey good buddy!)  The interior is great.  The1/4 panels and rockers have issues.  The pans are in good shape.  and oh yea, it needs a motor.

Welcome to the family zman, glad to have you aboard.  Great looking project and if you have any questions, post them up.  It's also a good idea to get a set of Hitman's manuals that you can find here...

they are invaluable when restoring one of these baby's.

Good looking Bird, my Formula's original paint was yellow, but some jerk painted it over it with some distasteful two tone job. Nice looking car, I have  a 78 Formula.  :D

Thank you all for your compliments, I do appreciate them. At the moment I have not done anything big on it other than replace the suspension. I honestly do not know what to replace / add to it. I heard some suggestions to the engine but because of smog laws I cannot. One thing I am working on is replacing the middle console and compartment. My current one has cracks everywhere and part of the top compartment door peeled off. I will take more pictures later :).
If anyone wants to know something specifically about the car I will try my best to answer, and maybe I could receive some suggestions about what else to do as well, thanks!

P.S. Would anyone know how to remove an automatic gear shift knob? In the manual it says to remove it but does not say how. Do I twist / pop / pull? Thanks for any help :)

Pull the center button up and off. May need to gently pry it. Then look down the center of the shift knob. There is a snap ring that must be removed. The knob will then lift straight off.

Hope that helps.

And welcome all!
