Found dowel pin in the oil pan
« on: April 15, 2023, 09:02:25 AM »
I have a 1976 Pontiac 350 cui engine.I found a part while removing my oil pan. It's probably a dowel pin from the main cap. I wonder how it can fall out. What was the cause. Is there anything else I can check? Does the dowel pin need to be reinstalled or is it only important for assembling the engine. I think the main cap is held by the screws, so the small dowel pins shouldn't hold anything. Can I use the dowel pin again or do I need a new one and how is it attached? I although found scratches on my oilpump.
Thanks
Joe
