Hello,

I have a y88.  I have my option sheet/dealer invoice-and it does indicate the y88 code, the w72 code etc...  However it does not indicate ws6 code.  Were all y88's considered to have the ws6 package, or can I assume that what is listed on my option sheet is what is there?  I'll try to attach my option sheet here in a minute.  Someone had told me all y88's were eqipted with the ws6 option so I just thought I would see what you all had to say.

I don't believe the Y88's were produced that early in the production run.  I think the Y88's began around March 78, while the requirement that W72 and WS6 be bundled together ended in or around October 77.  So, his Y88 doesn't have the WS6 suspension.

Yep!  Though I wish they would have bundled those options throughout 78.  It would have made sense.

Nope, not all Y88's had the WS6 bundled. Mine is a separate option call out on the PHS.

Mine has the W455 (aka  Yaren'tyougoingtothefuelpump)   mod

It's originally a L78 auto car - I have the numbers matching 400 in my basement. Currently sitting between the fenders is a 455 bored 0.060 over.

But you're talking apples and oranges here. The W72 was an engine upgrade while the WS6 was a handling package. Having one does not necessarily mean you have the other hence the separate call outs on the PHS.

Correct...L78 is the RPO for the base 400.

Geez, I didn't realize they wanted almost a thousand dollars more for the Y88.  Not worth it in my opinion.  All you get is a few more decals and some gold accents...plus a tan steering column.  Doesn't seem worth it when you compare what they wanted to upgrade to the W72 engine.

Yep, but that's with 30 years of hindsight.  In 1972 I could have gotten a Corvette with a 4 speed for a mere $3,000.  It was "used" but only had 4,000 miles on it before it was repo'd.  I didn't have $3,000.  Look at what it would be worth today.
