1977 Pontiac Trans Am - W72 - Restored
« on: February 02, 2021, 12:52:47 PM »
Selling this nicely optioned 1977 Pontiac Trans Am W72 after two years of restoration work.  This is a 64,000 mile, numbers matching car with a documented ownership history.  The VIN on engine, transmission, dash match and are original to this car.

The car is an original Code 19 Starlight Black Trans Am with the 6.6 Litre Pontiac W72 400 CID engine, Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, 3.23 limited slip differential, rear seat console, factory cruise control (it works), remote control deck lid release, electric rear window defroster, factory tinted windows, additional acoustical insulation, trunk light, glove box light, dual overhead map lights, visor vanity mirror, power windows, power door locks, tilt steering wheel, snowflake cast aluminum wheels, velour seats, door handle ornamentation, and pedal trim package.  Interior color is Firethorn.

Ownership History.  This car is documented through the Pontiac Historical Society (PHS).  I have the PHS documentation – dealer invoice, the original build sheet that was located under the rear seat.  I have a copy of the original title when the car was registered by the first owner on June 28, 1977 and original photos of the car dating back to the 1970s. I also have a copy of the title and photos from the 2nd owner.  I have spoken to both owners to hear their stories about this car.

Asking Price:  $47,990
Location:  Phoenix, AZ

I thought if it was the 400 it received the manual transmission and the 403's received the automatics!!

Are there exceptions to this rule?

California cars maybe?

Nice looking car regardless...good luck with the sale!!

True for ‘79.  My 77SE is a 400 W72 auto.  So was my 78SE.

Other way around,
The 403 Olds was compulsory in cali, it wasn't until mid '78 that you could no longer order the W72 with an automatic
